A guy by the name of Ryan at our track is winning 2nd to 3rd place in the EXPERT class running 15mins. To get 2nd or 3rd in expert class, you GOTTA be running your tail off racing. Also, the tekno crew run their tails off in the expert class with good results (2nd to 4th places in the A-main).
I beg to differ with you on that, Bigger motor , more torque, more torque, less amps required to do the job, less amps required, less MAH used in a given amount of time

If he is using a higher KV (2700 kv for instance) you would be right, but anything around 2000KV is real efficient

The 1515 1y (110amp) and 1512 2d (120amp) run about the same in terms of efficiency. Yes, the 1515 1y does not have to work as hard, but it isn't that fuel efficient. You really don't start seeing any significant gains in run time until you go with the next 1515 down which is the 1515 2.5d which only pulls 80amps. I actually found that the 1515's can run a little hot in a buggy relative to the 1512 because there isn't enough load on the motor.

I agree, I did not know exactly which wind he was running compared to Tforb's 1512/2.5. I just went to a comparable wind

Both cars are geared to similar speeds (42-45 mph) the T4 gets consistent 25 minutes and the GT gets consistent 32 minutes, that's 3.2 times lower capacity and 2.5 times more voltage, going farther, more efficiently.
Just to clarify. I assume your T4 runs a 2s 8000mah pack yes? If so, the capacity of a 5s 2500 pack is only 20% smaller than the 2s 8000mah.

I do think there is more efficiency to be had, but for me, I don't think on 4s going to any 1512 over my 1515/1y is going to get me 5 more min of runtime. Maybe one min if I am lucky?

I would bet you the 1512 2.5d on 4s will get you 3 to 5 minutes of additional run time. If you are having problems running 15 minutes on a 4s 5000 that means you are burning 333mah/per minute. There is no way you are going to burn that much with a 1512 2.5d. If you drop down to 250mah/minute you should get right at 20 minutes on a 4s 5000 pack.

20% less capacity with 30%+ more run time seems pretty good to me.

Oh I agree! Just wanted to be clear that the 2500 battery wasn't 3+ times smaller as he noted.

My 1512 is running 190 to 200 MAH/min. How efficient is that!!!

that's like running a V8 in a porche. A V8 is a V8 no matter how little it has to work. And we all know V8's consume gas!!! All you need is an inline 6 in a buggy. Enough power and a little better on gas mileage compared to a V8.

+1! There's no need to limit the motors in the rules, let the racers determine what works for them.

I'm in the same boat with my stock Xcelerin system. 2100 Kv, 4S 5000 and it's still TOO FAST for any nitro driver!
