Noob question about charging

If I have this charger...

And a 6cell 4500 mah nimh...do I charge it at 1 amps or 4 amps?

4 amps will be fine. nimh batts can take quite a lot of amps.
If that is a new battery, it will also false peak a few times while "waking up".
simply discharge, let it cool, then recharge, and repeat. i'd do it maybe through 4 or 5 cycles since that charger doesn't have a readout.

Thanks. Yeah it's crappy, I have a nitro, so I never had a need recently for a good charger, but now I do!

What exactly do the amps settings mean? Like what is the difference of charging something at 1 amps vs 4?

With this charger, since you don't have any other options, charge your NimH at 4 amps. If you used 1 amp, you charge would take forever and you would not have much power when you went to use your pack. A better rate would be between 5 and 5.5 amps though...

A good charger to get by the way is the Duratrax ICE; it has a lot of different, but easy to use settings.
