With the newer 4WD buggies is is mostly a matter of personal preferance. There are a few to stay clear of though. I would higly reccomend you steer clear of the Losi XXX4 and XX4 buggies. Not that they are not good buggies but they are the oldest design out there. These buggies are very fragile and come the the gereration of the winner in the 4WD buggy class was the guy who didn't break I would pick the buggy that is the most popular at your local track. That way you have a lot of people who can help you out if you need it.

I agree with everything you said except for throwing Losi out there.
IMO the XXX-4 is just plain outdated. It's in serious need of an update. The cars that have been out in the last year are just a lot better... Not saying you can rail a XXX-4, I just don't think it's as competitive.
BTW, I'm thinking of getting a XXX-4 cause you can get one used for nothing.

as for the other guy you apperently never drove a race worthy car. at my tack wich is probly one of the most competive tracks on the east coast. if you run anything but one of the top 3 you might as well go home. people come thier with sub par cars and they always sell them to some moron in another state and buy a real car.
by the way academy sux.lol. how often do you see one win a big race.

I thnk you should wait for the HPI cyber10b. It's based off of the HB D4 and already won a 24 hr race for 1/10 electric buggies before it has even been released.

Damn, I need to get out to Long Island to learn how to drive... the So Cal crowd is just a bunch of backyard bashers!
The D4 and the 501x = most durable. SP is not far behind and is the best fit for most drivers coming in w/ very lil' 4wd experience IMO.
I enjoy watching Losi's clean up on guys that think they have made the investment that can't lose.
