Reassembly of Lipo Batteries

How difficult is it to take apart a Max Amps battery and reassemble it as 2 different packs?

For example, taking apart a 4s2p 8000mah pack and reassembling them as
two separate 4s1p 4000mah packs.

please avoid the comments such as "why would you want to do this?" "why don't you just buy 2 separate packs"

I just want to know about the viability of reassembling lipo packs. For example, one cell went bad in one of my 6s2p packs and i wanna salvage them into a 3s1p pack and a 2s1p pack

thanks

I did exactly what you are talking about. With no issues, I dented a maxamps soft pack and the cell was bad. So I purchased one cell from maxamps (not sure if they still sell individuals) and made two 4 amp 7.4's out of a 4p 8 amp. I would like to just add that the taps that are used by the factory are spot/heat wielded togeather, and did not soldier too easiely. But I did manage to assemble the packs. And still work to this day. They are easily 3 years old and no issues. Just be careful if you are unsure what you are doing!

More than one person has asked this question.

My take would be: If you have to ask, you probably lack the soldering and other relevant skills to do the job well, if at all.

That is not intended to offend you. It is the same as someone asking "how hard is it to rebuild an automobile engine?" If you had the skills to do it, you wouldn't need to ask the question Unless it was strictly rhetorical).

Contact lincpimp at http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...d=1#post227617 He took 2 4s packs and made them into 4 2s packs for me. I ran them and had zero problems. His turnaround was insanely fast.

Also is there any way to change the plugs of this saddle pack

with a corally bullet style?

I've re-configured maxamps packs. I had a 3s 8400mah pack that came as a square brick. I reconfigured it into a long brick. I changed a second pack into a 4s 6300mah pack which I later changed to a 4s 4200mah pack.

my cells were soldered together which made it easier, but this isn't something for the faint of heart. Taking apart and re-assembling lipos is a potentially dangerous thing and extreame care must be taken to ensure the cells are connected properly and that they don't get shorted out.
