Default ROAR OFF ROAD ELECTRIC NATIONALS ANNOUNCEMENT

TO ALL: this announcement was posted on the ROAR website yesterday, January 26, 2009 at the request of the host facility in Omaha, Nebraska.

We apologize for any inconveniences but situations arose that were out of anybody's control.

Yours in ROAR-
Dawn Sanchez
ROAR President

01/26/09 - 2009 ROAR OFF ROAD ELECTRIC NATIONALS
In the best interest of our national event and our membership, ROAR has been forced to reschedule this event to June 24th - 28th due to the rescheduling of the NCAA College World Series to be held in Omaha, Nebraska. We have been notified there are no available hotel accomodations due to the baseball event.

We apologize if this causes any hardship for our members but host of this race on the original scheduled date is now impossible

That seems like a valid reason to reschedule. I'm sure most people would agree that it's a good idea to move it.

Glad you posted this now. I haven't booked anything yet, but I'll note the date change.

The College World Series is huge here in Nebraska. There wouldn't be anything available even in the way of camping, cardboard boxes, or park benches to sleep on around the Series. Good call on the reschedule, we wouldn't want to make a bad impression on those traveling for this event to Omaha.

Nice Work Dawn & Alex!!!

Even if you did manage to find a hotel for the CWS weekend it would be SUPER expensive

Expains why when I looked up rooms a couple weeks ago there were only a couple available. Very good news to see!

Also, makes it easier for me to attend my first nationals.

When I put the bid in I specifically looked to make sure that we were not in conflict with the CWS, but they must have changed the dates or the dates listed at the time when I checked the website were wrong.

Thanks to everyone for understanding. I can now breath a little bit easier.

Sure Andy.. see you there??

Also, I had a phone call this morning with reports from a few guys trying to change hotel reservations due to this ... and they said they were told by the hotel the CWS goes through that week.

So, I checked.

Wrong. It ends on Tuesday of the week of our event. Also, the Holiday Inn near the track has MANY availabilities...... I just called several hotels in the area and found many openings. (Now I have to decide where I'm staying...LOL)

So, all is good!! No need to arrive prior to Tuesday anyway because ROAR won't allow anybody on the layout until Wednesday of that week and that is only if the Host allows it. Thursday is the first official day and thats a controlled practice.

See you guys in a few months!

Just what, as a ROAR member, I like to see and hear. A smart front office!

Thanks for seeing beyond the hobby, to what else is going on in the world!

AND making adjustment(s).
