Default Learned something new about CA Glue Storage from AE Support

Gave AE a call to find out about an issue I had with there super glue. Basically there glue dried bone hard in the container, and it was new never used. I was advised that this can happen with there glue (assuming in general all CA glue) and to store it in the freezer.

anyone else heard of doing this? I never had this happen before, but 2 brand new sealed bottles had this happen.

Yeah i have been doing that for about a year now.

You also need to squeeze out the oxygen before you close it again.

It even says it on the AKA glue.

I keep the good stuff in the fridge, seems to work well. Never heard about the freezer before.

When I went to use them, I didn't know the first one was plugged up, thought maybe it was just thicker stuff than my last batch or I was missing seeing it jiggle, I just figured I didn't puncture it properly so I fought with that for a bit till the actual applicator part broken in half, glued solid all the way through into the bottle.

The next one I just giggled around of course it was the same, solid all the way through so no need to fight with that one. Good thing I just had touchup to do and have very little of the other stuff left to finish.

Funny thing was I stored these new glues with the open one I was using at the time and that one had no issues.

I have never had this happen before with previous AE glue or other brands which is why I called. Online they stated that I could send it in and they will be replaced. So i plan to get both bottles out to them and see what happens. Will definitely do this storage method the next time.

This is not a new idea, My dad built and flew R/C planes 30 years ago and had always put his CA in the freezer, so I guess the plane guys have know about this for awhile.

i believe the reason to put it in the fridge is to keep the climate consistant.

there is nothing worse than trying to do a quick touch up and come to find out your glue is all dried up!

AE came through and sent me back 1 new bottle. I believe this bottle is bigger than the original factory team bottles, and I think seals up better too as other brand I have used that haven't had the drying issue use a very similar bottle, almost identical.

Thanks AE!

I use Mercury Adhesives, I have yet to put them in freezer, but I guess it's not a bad idea.
