Default Can't figure out if its Kyosho ZX5 or ZX5 SP

HI, I'm new to RCTECH and the world of Kyosho 4WD. I just picked up a used ZX5 and the guy I bought it from also bought it used a short time before me. We can't seem to figure out if it is a ZX5 or ZX5 SP. It came with a bunch of spares and looked to be in decent shape so I picked it up to compare against the Losi XXX4 G+ I also recently bought.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Clearest difference is front suspension. If the arms attach to the bottom of the c-hub and the kingpins go through the c-hub first, it is a standard Lazer. If the arms attach part-way up the C-hub and the kingpins go through the knuckle first, is is an SP.

Thanks. Were there other main differences? I'm wondering if it may have been an original ZX5 and then they upgraded some parts to the SP...

Thanks for the input.

Shocks are Silver with silver springs. (Note pics show different bottom caps on the shocks for front than rear)

Front and Rear has black CVDs.

Came with a One Way, but not installed.

Wheels have a slight lip to them too. The previous reply had said to check the mounting of the front suspension and it looks (see pics) that the Hinge pins go thru the C-Hubs at the bottom.

Thanks for the feedback. Is there a document that tells what the conversion parts are or is there that big of a difference in them? If I keep it I will maybe race but am not a pro by any means.

Thanks Again

That's weird. I agree with the others guys that your car is not an SP. Interesting though it looks like you have the triple caps cartridge shocks in the front, but not the rear. Considering you have black CVD's in the rear, that could indicate you have the mid rear arm conversion on the car...however, that should also mean that all four shocks should be the trip caps. Did it come with any extra parts that look like the shock cartridges on the front? I suppose the prior owner could have just added the trip caps to the front and universals in the rear without the conversion kit.

I bought it for $120 with 2 plano boxes of parts like arms, shock towers, etc. I figured if I didn't like it I could just resell. I have a feeling though that it was very partially upgraded here and there but have no way of knowing.

I'm not sure on the extra parts, I'll have to look thru them tonight and see what shock parts there were. I believe I saw blue alum shock caps at least. There were even some alum front steering knuckles too. the front and Rear arms look different and I thought they were supposed to be the same but none of the Kyosho manuals I've seen are very clear on the Regular or SP. Any idea on any better documentation?

Thanks for all the help. I'll have to see about the conversion kits.

Thanks again.
