I spent this weekend running a set-up on my X - 6 squared based on what Jeremy posted above, and I have to say it was awesome. It was quite a change from what I've been running before, so the car had a very different feel to it, but it was definitely as quick around the track here in Nashville as what I'd been running before.
As a note, the X - 6 squared has nearly identical effective geometry as the original X - 6 (the rear upper shock mount holes are .05" higher for more uptravel) so set-ups are practically interchangeable.
Here's what I ran:
Front: 2B camber link, no washers, 20* caster blocks spaced back, inline axles, rear ackerman, 0 bump-steer washers, 1 oz of weight on and around the bulkhead, -1* camber, slight toe-in
front shocks: Losi, 2/1, 55 (orange) piston with 35 wt, orange spring, .090" inside, eyelets unscrewed 2 turns. The overall shock was 3.05" long from the top shock screw to the bottom one (full droop).
Rear: 1A camber link, 2 washers, 3* toe in block, no antisquat shims, transmission flat (no washers), Arms forward, hubs centered.
rear shocks: Losi, 2/3, 55 (orange) piston with 32.5 wt, Yellow spring, no limiting, overall shock was 3.60" long form top shock screw to bottom one (full droop).
Other: M3 holeshots with Bomb1 foam in the back, Proline 8175's up front with 3/4 rear foam inside, Reino's Ragu applied, Novak GTB Speedcontroller with a 10.5 motor (its a super-stock class), geared 25/78, SMC 4100 Lipo.
Later in the day I was able to run some practice laps and changed a few things to try them. I ended with a car that was a little more planted or safe feeling at the expense of a some steering, but some people might like it better. The changes I made were: move the 20* caster blocks forward, run the normal trailing axles with the spindle high, use forward ackerman hole, add 1 washer on the steering rack under the ballstuds, add a washer under the front camber link, and move the rear hubs to the full back position.
Really, Jeremy's set-up was awesome, and if some other family members want to try it I'd heartily recommend it - let us know how it goes!

I run the same gearing when I have my 8.5R in, actually. It feels really good on both motors.

Just figured I'd drop my setup in, as well. Oddly enough, with the right tires, this setup has worked at all the tracks I've tried it at. In the summer, I ran on the fluffy dirt 1/8th scale tracks, I run indoors at Washtenaw, which is a very slick and dusty surface, and I ran at FTR and Leisure Hours which are high bite clay tracks. This setup is very easy to drive and you can really press hard with it.
I'll post up my truck setup someday, too.

hey paul, whats the chances of seeing a complete X-5 kit? I cant get a new xx-4 and it would cost alot to buy all the remaining parts to complete the conversion to a kit...

maybe a new chassis to acomidate better for lipo?
Unfortunately I doubt we'll be selling an entire X - 5 any time soon. We used to do it by literally buying xx4 kits, pulling out the parts needed and packaging the whole thing together; we sold the rest of the parts as "remainder kits." Since Horizon has stopped making XX4's again, it'd be really pricey to put everything together. We do still offer the XXX4 conversion kit, and I'm sure there are plenty of used XXX4's around; that's about the best I can say.
As for accommodating Lipo in the X - 5, there are quite a few members of the family, including all of the team, who have fitted Lipos in their car. We're looking at the various methods that have been done and starting to put together a kit - it'll probably be out in the next few months - but it will require some work with a dremel to flatten out the right side of the chassis. We might consider offering a "pre-dremelled" chassis; we'll have to see how stuff develops.

br93lx - where do you usually race? I see your Location is "Louisville"; I race up in that S. Indiana/S. Illinois region a few times a year.
Nephets - I like those angled decals a lot. That looks really slick; I may try that out next body! Are those T-2000's on the back of the truck? Old-School!
