Default Stampede ESC/Motor Upgrade Help

Hey guys, I recently upgraded an XL-1 Stampede to an XL-5 but it didnt give me the performance I was hoping for - My new mission is to get a Brushless setup and upgrade to the vxl trans. - My issue is the stampede is tall and I want good take off and speed - can I use rustler shocks to give it a lower stance or what should I do there...also im lost with what BL setup to get - I see the Mamba sidewinder and the Mamba Max and I dont see much of a difference unless im using lipos which I wont be for now so that isnt the issue - I want the best bang for the buck using a 7 cell NIMH 4600mAh - I hear novak is good but from what I see they are alot more expensive...

My question is...what esc/motor combo is a good choice is the 150-220 dollar range (lower being better : )

What other things should I do to prepare the car for the abuse of a BL setup

Any other considerations you guys might have?

Sorry if this topic has been posted many times I just feel my scenario is somewhat original - Thanks alot guys

mamba max esc with the 5700kv.. Mamba makes the best esc's out there. The mamba max esc is programmable right out of the box (You hook it up to your comp and set it up). The Sidewinder you need to buy a adapter and the programming cd kit. If your gonna spend the money, deffinatly go with the Mamba max and the 5700kv or the 4600kv.

Default differences?

Is the only difference the fact that it doesnt come with the programming equipment?
