Default soldering iron

Okay guys, i just came from nitro 1/8th scale offroad to electric 1/8th scale and 1/10th scale. all of a sudden, wala.... i have about 12 batteries to manage, mostly lipo and few nicads. I am finding my soldering iron is not melting the solder deep enough to bind with the metals and wires. What's a good soldering iron and what are the tricks of good soldering!!!

thx!!

At least a 40 watt iron will work well. make sure you tin the end asnd keep it clean. Make sure it has a wide tip.

I've got a Weller iron thats been going strong for over 20yrs now. Might be alittle pricey at first, but they payoff in the long run.

Hakko...you can find them at leaded glass suppliers, ebay etc. They have ceramic heating elements and do not lose there tip temperature during contact with the soldered material....hands down the best iron out.

Teeforb,
I got the losi battery tray mounted on the mbx6...fits great and is cheap $9.00!
Had to drill one hole...it os solid...much better then the rc monster. If I knew how to post pics I would.

+3 on the Hakko, but I'll still use my 80watt Weller for building pacs.

Tricks - tin everything, use good solder (I use Deans solder only), make sure solder is melted on both pieces when making a joint.

hey thopper, u have one of two ways. easiest is to attach it to your post. click the "paper clip" button. OR, you can upload it to a photo website like photobucket and copy past the link to the picture. send me link to losi battery tray.
