Default esc rx wire

Hey guys have had my rx8 for about a month and love it. Here's my question taking everything out of my 8ight and noticed the black wire going to rx was skint and some of the wire was broke. Esc still worked but the wire is bare. Can I solder back together without voiding a warranty or does it have to be sent back thanks

What car? Battery? and gearing?

Wrong gearing/battery/motor setup can also cause these failures.

Default RX8

I purchased an RX8 and use it in my Losi SCTE. It has been flawless and programming in the field is simple.

Sorry if I missed the info but it looks like the 238 software is gen2 rx8 only, correct?
Is there a revision on the gen1 rx8? 224's new (can't remember what vegas version is has been for the past few months) ?

I think my longest lasting RX8 (1 year of racing) just died today

Everything was fine, low temps, awesome response, like usual. And just before a final (belgian championship) I connected my lipo (zippy compact 35C 3300mah) and a blitz came out of nowhere (I can't even say were it was located). When I turned the ESC on to see what's wrong the two first and the two last red leds flashed. This said it smelled nothing and no fumes either.

I'm running a 1400kv motor with an external castle CC bec and savox 1268SG servo. Last time this happened to me with a RX8 it fried the next time I turned it on.. So now I've no idea what to do. It's my 3rd gen1 RX8 having a problem, and I never fried another controller. I was VERY cautious at soldering and placing it correctly on the car as well as using zero zeal vibration etc.. My RX8 speedos just don't hold up a year + racing. I can't afford a new rx8 speedo so now I'm done. The T8 is awesome but the RX8 has never been a reliable speedo for me sadly. I really hope for the gen2 will be stronger because tekin is not cheap compared to other brands and it should mean a better reliability for the electronics.

I forgot to mention tekin support has always been great, Randy knows about it and helped me find solutions everytime I had a trouble so it's not about the brand itself. I'm just giving a feedback on my own experience with this speedo. And many know how much I like it when it actually works which makes it even more frustrating.

Did you already try another motor? I've seen cracked motor tab solder joints cause this fault intermittently. Check 'em to be sure.
