I have been told i could get a good 20 minute run time with a 5000mah 4s lipo and the 2200kv motor...
Alex
This isn't neccessarily true. Running for 20 minutes on 4s 5000mah could be done if you brought back your epas a bit and had it perfectly geared. However I've managed to drop a 4s 5000ish pack in as quick as 12 minutes or as long as 16 minutes with a 2050 on a full sized 1/8 track that was say 16,000sqft.
I'm not saying it couldn't be done I'm just saying that you may not have a realistic expectation.
For a 20 minute run on 4s I'd be looking at the 1900kv motor and drop my epas back around 85 or so and geared to be just as fast as a Nitro buggy.

Randy, I am also looking at doing a Losi truggy. I would assume it is smarter to use the truggy motors in truggys...lol. So I think it looks like I have 2 choices
2000kv w/4C= 29,600rpm
1700kv w/5C= 31,450rpm
I am waiting to see if my max amp 2C 8000's will fit together to run as 4C in the truggy as I already have them and would be nice to use them. Would it be possible to do a later "C" option. I would start with 4C with the possiblity of 5C later. What should I do considering I am going to try and make my 4C set up?
Well it is actually starting to happen. We shipped some today, we will ship more tomorrow and even more the next day as we ramp up. Most sites will not show any stock as they fill the backorders. Now that we are rolling we can build them pretty fast and will catch up quickly. The official we are shipping will be next week on the website. This is a teaser for you serious guys....
I caused the last delay. Although I am sure I will not be very popular for it now, I think it was worth it in the long run. We found a something that we felt could be improved during our ongoing testing in real world race conditions. We are unpackaging every unit, de-case, modify, re-case, re-test and re-packaging before shipping. It is a tedious process while we work thru all the units that were ready to ship. Things will go faster when we do not have to take them apart first.
It is never easy when you design, manufacture and back your own products. Fortunately that is part of what makes it fun and challenging for us. We are truly proud of this 1/8 scale system but we will save the cheerleading and let the product speak for itself.
Attached are some hack pictures of the production area for peace of mind that it is really happening. Rx8 in process for modification, Rx8 finished and orders in process and being packaged.
So moving to a 5 cell wouldnt give me more run time would it? Would 2 2c5000mah packs give me more run time? I would like to get the most run time as possible out of this thing while making good power...

What about my other questions????
and as I'm am new to electric could you explain what an epa is?

They look good. Im really liking the pic that shows the radio harness is very long.
Are the different stacks the different combo varieties?
I ordered a truggy 1550 and that is what I am most excitedly anticipating. Do you know if any of those combos shipped today?
EPA stands for "End point adjustment." THis can be used to limite the total amount of servo travel or in this case esc travel by dialing back max throttle. IT's often used in nitro racing to help conserve fuel.
Every track is different. Every driver drives different. For max runtime you will need to look for a good balance of power, driving, and gearing.
I can dial my setup back and make 20 minutes but I have to be very smooth and not as fast as I "could" be.
If you were to find a 5s pack that had say 5000mah or more that should get you in the ballpark relatively easily. Most are running 4s or 2 2s packs together to create a 4s pack. Roar settled on 4s but the hardcore guys already out there are running 4s, 5s and even 6s.
Hope this helps.

Yes the radio wires are twice as long as the RS and a heavier gauge wire.
There are 10 motors and we are planning to ship some of everything as we go. We do expect the bulk to be the buggy 1900kv and the 2050kv with the truggy 1700kv and 2000kv. Of course there are always lots of orders for the fastest motors (buggy 2650 and truggy 2250).... sooner or later they will learn that is not the fastest laps in most case
Not surprisingly many want the lower kvs for 5s and 6s we assume. So I guess we just need to ship lots of all of them so everyone is happy.

Someone posted in one of my threads a 4cell 6000mah would that get me to 20 minutes gearing for 35 to 40 mph with a 2200kv motor?
I am going to talk to my lhs about the rx8 sometime this week...
also is the hotwire sold seperately?
also this still doesnt answer my question if 2 2cell/5000mah battaries will give me more run time...

2x 2s 5000 pack is the same as one 4s 5000 pack. A 4s 6000 packs should get you to 20 minutes in most cases. It might be iffy on a 2200 motor though, but not out of the question. It just depends on your track and driving style.
For 20 minutes guaranteed in race conditions, you will probably need to go to a 5s setup with a 1700-1900kv motor and a 5s 5000 pack. If you are just bashing around, then 20 minutes is pretty easy with a 4s 6000 pack. Racing burns up more mah/minute than just bashing.
