well randy, my red heatsink RX8 went bad on me again. It's getting so bad, it makes me look like Im doing something wrong. I connect A to A, B to B, C to C, +/- for the battery, program it, and drive the hell out of it. Then it did the stop and go on me. This time, i did have steering, but no power to the motor. So, is it the motor or the ESC? I would think the ESC. If it's the motor, wouldn't it just will not work.

Sounds like you have a bad board just like I did.

Does it chime when it arms/powers up? What led's are shown when you power it up and it arms?

Sorry to hear you're having an issue, hang in there we'll get you sorted.

I don't recall, this happens while the buggy is on the track. when i bring it back into the pits, it seems fine. i can try to take a look at it tomorrow and see what lights are on.

All we can say is that things are getting better, the problems have been identified and changes have been put in place. We have not seen any failures on units shipped in the last 6 to 8 weeks. The above unit would be the first Red heatsink to have issues, and it is yet to be seen what the problem really is. People tend to forget there are other components in the system that can fail.

I recently had a servo short out in my buggy and it was acting like a speedo issue. New servo and all was good. We have also seen the throttle channel go out in 5 receivers at the last 2 events we were at. We have also seen 2 lipos fail recently. Internal connections were coming and going making the system turn on and off just like we see when solder joints fail on the circuit board. They all seemed like speedo issues and yet they were not in the end. Chowdered radio wires, cold solder joints on motor wires and battery wires, lipos that fail internally, servos, receivers, radios…. We are not making excuses, but since we see these often we at least make sure we know the truth before we panic.

We have yet to see a new circuit board come back with the problems we were seeing with bad solder joints. Many of the black heatsink units also have new circuit boards in them, it is not just the red units. No doubt there will be some failures at some point because this really is an extremely abusive application, but recently things have been looking really solid and we are confident we are on track.

I'll chime in and reiterate that my RX8 with the new board is working out just fine, so I believe that the rite changes are being made.

Now that I see that Tekin is being very proactive about getting the bugs fixed I would not hessitate to spend my money with them in the future.

Yes, down time is very frustrating for us, but in the end they seem to come through as expected.

My $.2

My new board is going strong....Over 20 race nights on it without a problem. My two buddies are having good luck with the new boars as well.

I just got my RX8 back from repair last week. I spent 2 hours re-soldering wires and installing it in my truggy and guess what? It wasn't fixed. No chimes on power up. No throttle. These are the same problems it had when I sent it in. I know it's not my other components, because I had a back-up system in and it worked fine.

The Tekin system has the same problems over and over... bad rotor... bad board... bad rotor... bad board. It's really getting expensive, time consuming and EXTREMELY frustrating.

I will say that Tekin's service is incredible. Ty has helped my time and time again without any hassles. I just wish the product was better.

Both mine are still going strong. One went bad a couple months ago, sent it in and havent had any problems since.
