Agreed that the CFM's will be much lower than its 12v rating but probably close to what the stock fan pushes to begin with. And I dont think ill have any brokin blades after the first battery back with this one.

6v bec voltage won't hurt the 5v fans... I've also run 12v fans on 4s (14-16.8v) without an problem. I think most of the fan failures are just from impact/abuse of running in an offroad car. Maybe we need to see some type of damping system (maybe o rings?) to help them survive the abuse.

Wht happens when the fans burn out or are damaged? There won't be any replacements sent?

So I would be good too hook up my 12v fan just past the Battery connection. That thing would seriously hum.

Why don't you just hook it up to your receiver? I run mine off my receiver and it has dropped speedo and motor temps a bunch

Yeah I am playing with all my options right now. Iam getting the same voltage from the receiver as the ESC fan output. Bur the receiver only turns on here and there. Receiver is of course on all the time. But it I can hook into the power strait from the 14.4 batteries then The esc will get blasted with air and I shouldn't have to worry about heat as much...

Anyone tried these connectors? I am thinking about trying them to replace the deans connectors. Look easy to solder, good connection and easy to use and CHEAP!

Just wondering i anyone has tried them and if they had any issues.

Tekin: Just wanted to verify that you guys think that 4mm bullets are enough. They gotta handle at least as much power as the deans plugs right? I know that most of the development testing was done with 4mm plugs.

i got these on a couple of the zippies i recently bought, the plastic is really thin and frail feeling, i dont know if they would be as good as deans

Yea. I got em on some zippys too. Thats when I looked at them and thought id like to try them, but they didn't have any mating plugs in the store at the time so I cut them off an installed deans like everything else I own. Now I see these in the store and I'm wondering if anyone has actually used the plugs and if they had any issues. They seemed tough enough to me. The plastic was thin, but it felt pretty flexible and tough to me. They basically just seem like 4mm bullets that slide into a housing that acts like a handle and prevent accidental shorting and plugging them in wrong.

I saw someone post on them a while back and they weren't very happy with them compared to a true deans plug. My charger from Hobbycity came with such a plug and it works fine for charging but they don't have near the fit and finish of deans and I honestly would not trust them.

Default WIRE GAUGE

My RX8 came with 12awg wire for the motor. Think I can get away with 14awg on the battery plug? Its all I got

Ok guys, I was looking at my options as fan as fans go today. Found some interesting things out. First off does anyone knoe the CFM's of the stock fan?

Also the fan is a 5 volt DC fan. But the RX8 is pushing 5.77 to 5.79 volts on mine. That could very well be the reason for burned up fans. We all know its not good to overpower anything. Or suffer the consequences. As many of our fans already have.

I went to the computer store today to go fan shopping. They of course had no 30mm fans. I picked up a 40mm to play with. Its 12v but the CFM's are 8.5. I hooked it into my receiver and it was working pretty good.

I only temporarily mounted it just for initial testing. I am going to fab up a funnel type mount for the top of the ESC.

Anyone have any opinions on overpowering a fan motor???

As you can see this fan looks bullet proof compared to the stock one.

Not likely, I used to run 12v fans on direct 6s power, 25v. Didnt really have any problems with the motors burning out or anything.
