My rustler after my last bash (muddy pics)

Well i had a very short run with my rustler saturday!:intello: got it real muddy at a friends house and had some problems with my MM to come up regarding water. i hit a puddle and that's when it started to act up.:oh: I hit the puddle, kept running foward for about 25-30ft and then the ESC just shut off. I check everything and all of it was pluged it and the reciever and steering servo were working fine. I checked everything and all the temps were fine except the ESC. The ESC could just about burn me without touching it (normally only gets to about 150 max)! So i unpluged the esc and waited a couple of mins. I then pluged it back in and it came on. I then sat it down, pushed it and drove some. But as soon as i stoped and got back on the throttle, it just sat their and sputtered just like when i've fried my MM before.:gasp: But i thought it was waterproof???? the servo and reciever were fine (put balloon around reciever and used a zip tie to close the end tite). And when i'd push the car a little before giving it any throtle, it would run fine, but every time i'd stop, it wouldn't go again. I ran it a few mins (pushing it when i had to stop) and it kept getting better and better the longer it ran untill the LVC cut it off. I checked the temps and the motor was at maybe 100-110 and the batt was just about the same. But the ESC was once again, extreamly hot!! I wish i had my temp gun becouse it was WAY hotter than normal!! It was to the point that i could feel heat come out the car's body when i picked it up. Could this be water damage? Or could it have just been my luck that the ESC just happened to mess up right when i hit the water?

Anyway, here are some pics of my muddy rustler for you guys:

Looks like we learned a lesson? eh?

1) First of all, your battery pack was not sealed, might have leaked outpower (has nothing to do with it but seal it next time)
2)don't submerge the motor
3)don't submerge the battery pack
4)The blue ESC is the only waterproof XL-5
5) don't try to overtest the waterproof system, they mean "water resistant"
6) once again, DON'T SUBMERGE!!!
7) use plastic dip to seal the battery
8) use silicon gell to seal the speed control, the radio box to seal the radio, and silicon gell to seal the servo:smile:

The MM is not waterproof, but it has a coating on the board to help stop water from shorting it out. did you do ANY soldering on it? it may have melted the coating...
