Hyperion chargers?

which charger is better:
HYPERION EOS0610I 250W 6S 10A BALANCING CHARGER

or the

HYPERION EOS0606IAD AC/DC BALANCING CHARGER 6S, 6A, 50W

i know one needs a power supply and one puts out more watts but they both are about the same price. im trying to switch over to run Lipos and want a hyperion charger but dont know why i would pick one over the other. if i get the DC one ill use my indy 16X9 to power it.
kinda lost on which one

I like the size and weight of the 0606i myself...

Bump 12-17-2008 03:54 PM

i THINK the first one is only AC or whatever as compared to the other being AC/DC. i could be very wrong though. I bought the 0606i ac/dc though. good enough for me, i plan on charging my first pack next week with it.

hyperions

they are no where near same price.. duo is 269.. the 6061 is 139
scratching my head..I have a hyperion eos501i 5amp I like it also have a X charger to balance my lipos that is $69 shipped to my door.. Both the last will fit in my pocket. but they need a power supply. a old atx computer power supply works 10$ at my local comp store.

not talking about the DUO , didnt list the DUO.

If you're running high capacity, multi cell lipos, the 50 watt output of the 0606i will limit your charge rate and make charging take a longer. If you're running smaller capacity, 2S, then the 0606i's 50 watt limit won't be a prob.

0610iNet is an awesome charger - I been using one for a little over a yr with a 25amp supply. I run 5s a123s and it will charge them at 10amps in about 15min! The 0606i would only be able to charge them at around 3amps due to its 50watt limit.

0610iNet is being replaced by the 0720iNet charger which will be the same basic charger, but has a discharge feature the 0610i does not have. Thats the reason 0610i seems to be cheap - they're basically on sale in front ot the arrival if the new 0720iNet.

No question in my mind - for that price diff even if I had to buy a PS, I'd go with the 0610iNet. I've been thinking about a 2nd one to network charge with.

i cant seem to find any info anywere (even in integy's site) about how many amps my indi 16x9 puts out to make sure its power supply can run the hyperion correctly. it works fine to power my pitbull charger though.

Im not sure which one is better because i have only used the 606I. With that said, Its a great charger. I don't use all of the features but what i have used works great. I would highly recommend this charger to anyone.

Pg 2 in your manual says 7amps..... Download manual, find 16x9, then click whatever page you want to see - only 4 pages, found in the specs on page 2.
This would be OK for the 0606i since its output is ~65watts. It should also run the 0610i, but no where near full output for than charger.

The 610I is the way to go if you will be running higher voltage, higher capacity packs. If you were to charge a 4S on the other model, you could only charge at something like 3.25A (the 50W limitation).

I have the Duo (just two 610's in one box) and it is a great charger. I imagine the single is just as good.

I have the EOS 0606I, you are correct about the charge rates, but for off-road we only use 2s so you can charge up to 6A with it, it works flawlessly good charger

spcpicard 12-18-2008 09:23 AM

to get an idea on what wattage charger you need, you simply multiply the volts of the larges battery you will be using, X the max amps you will be charging at. Ex. 4cell lipo 5000mah ~16 volts X 5amps = 80watts

to get an idea of what power suppy needed you can multiply the voltage of the power supply times the amps to get the total watts. Some power supplies put out more volts than others. Whats good about higher end hyperions is that they can handle a wide range of voltage (up to 24volts).

You must drive 1/10th offroad. For 1/8th we use 4s and higher.

Allow for about a 10-15% inefficiency in the power supply and you wont undersize you power supply. If you want to run a 250watt charger like the 0610INet, you'll need 288watt supply, say 300watts. When (if) you push the charger to its max, that way you'll have all the input power you need.

I run mine with a 345watt (13.8v, 25amps) supply and can power a smaller charger at the same time to charge another batt if I want/need to.

when i connect my (Venom 3600) NiMh battery to my new EOS0606i charger, i get to the charge screen and it reads like 8.xxx volts.

This is what I am doing..
plug in battery
plug into wall (no balance plug connected)
once its on i go to the nimh screen
choose 3 amps
hold down enter to start the charge and it started at 7.4xx and goes up

does it not cut off when full? or am i looking at it wrong? 7.2v venom 3600
