I have a slash and need to purchase new batteries. I do not have a charger that will charge lipos right now.

I was wondering if 7 cell NIMH would be just as good as a 30c 2 cell lipo pack.

What would be the major differences in the two.

I looking at purchasing from Max Amps.

I have plenty of experience with NIMH batteries, just not with lipos.

Any help would be appreciated.

id suggest getting an orion 3800 lipo and a duratrax onyx 230 charger. money well spent for the slash and in the long run over nimh

out of the gate the nimh will be quicker than the lipo just based upon voltage.
However it won't last nearly as long in run time and performance due to the inherent characteristics of nimh.

Weight is another issue as a plus for lipo.

For 5 min. races I'd roll with the Orion 3800's simply for the weight benefits.

I run there Platinum 4800 and it's a bit overkill. I only use about .40ish volts in a 5 min. race.

I ran my Brushless slash this past weekend on a 6500HC 7.4 volt pack and it was way overpowered. I ran two 5 minute Q'ers and one 5 min. Main on the same charge plus practice before hand. I ran Proline Dirtworks on the rear and M3 Blades on the front. Needless to say anything over 1/2 throttle would spin me out. It's getting a set of bowties for the next race. I also have 2 of our 7 cell 4700's and I can say this thing is faster on the Li-Po. Plus having the weight of the 6500 helps. My slash with the 6500 in the back of the tray jumps nice and level. Plus can't beat one charge for the whole day.

most slash racers at bumps and jumps use the yeah racing 4000 for 57 bux. hard to beat.
