How is this kit? what are the differences between this and the SP kit? what electronics comes with it? i can not seem to find those details on the retailers website.

From what I understand, it is 2 versions behind the SP kit. Nothing is interchangeable at all....I was thinking of this myself, and slowly upgrading to the kit standard.

well, it's for an 8 year old. i can either do that or a b44. but the b44 has a saddle pack. i kinda don't like that.

I would think a Slash would be better for an entry level RTR....unless you have a large 4WD turnout enough for novice class.

Unless it's just a electric class anything goes novice group.

eh... kinda. I haven't seen any noobs come from slash racing at our local track. If anything it promotes hacking. IMHO.

i thought of that, but i know the slash class will come and go. i want something more long term and technical. but i have thought of that.

Only problem I see is that it comes with a sensorless brushless, and may require the vehicle to run with Mod if they enforce the ROAR rules at all....

He's 8, I think he would be fine. Most places are mod 4wd anyways

yea, i think i will head in the direction of kyosho. a rtr kit for $209 is good. even the basic speed controller and motor is good for now. i can update later if need be. i would go b44 route, but im not feeling the saddle pack. im sure he will be in the kids class where anything goes. but if i can get that orion powered kyosho soon for a similar price, that would be good to.

how does this basic zx5 compare with the latest and greatest 4wd buggies out now?
