Super Stock Set-up
Hey i was going to bump up to superstock and i was wondering which esc/motor combos i should look at. Im driving a xxx-cr stock. I wont be using lipo's for a while longer ( until i can afford to upgrade ).
Sorry if this is a repost but the ones i have seen were mainly for Mod racing. Any help is appreciated

Same here for the esc. I use an LRP Sphere Comp.
But I use an Orion 10.5.
To me this setup feels the smoothest with plenty of rip.
The novak feels like it has more punch.
both motors would be a great choice. I don't think you could go wrong with either. just a preference. more punch or smoother both have plenty of rip.
good luck in your choice & have fun

Rule Change - ?
Just an FYI - Check with your track to see if they are going to follow the ROAR rule change for Super-Stock. Beginning 1 Jan 09, only 13.5 brushless is legal. 10.5 will then be a mod class motor.
I know my track is making the change and most SS guys will have to get a 13.5 since they have been running the 10.5.
Your track may be different but it is worth checking before spending any $$$

I believe our track has always been 13.5 / 19t for superstock. So that setup looks perfect other than the chunk out of my wallet.
Just wondering if maybe the novak 13.5 combo might be close to "as good" as the LRP?

What about Gearing
I was just thinking, do I need to change my gearing setup for 13.5? Right now im using 82 / 19 with my 27t brushed motor.

You'll be surprised how hi you can gear a 13.5 brushless.
We run 76 spur and 30 pinion and that is really fast and stays cool.
Some even run higher.
I'm running a 72 (Kimbrough) spur and 30 pinion and it's still not too hot.
These motors have tons of torque and easily pull the hi gear ratios.
If you want an even lighter rotating mass setup you can find as low as 65 tooth spurs and pinions anywhere from 25 to 28 teeth.
This reduces the size of both gears, much lighter and moves the motor much more forward to get better balance.
