what can you guys not go without as far as tools/setup equipment on race day?? I want to have everything I need when I go for practice in hopes of racing next season.

Seems that I try to bring everything I can think of but I always seem to forget something.

I take a great big holdall, and a large toolbox with me to every race meeting.

Usually, the only bits I ever use are my little brush for getting the dirt off and the wheel spanner.

this may be a dumb question, but losi trucks are american threaded right, not metric? sounds dumb as i just built one but i dont know what size keys i was using

I like to have spare parts (spare truck actually to pull parts off of if needed)

Also like to have a Hot Glue gun, 5 min epoxy & some carbon or fiberglass rod in case I have to repair something (from my plane stuff)

I'm still working on what to bring to the track myself.....

I am planning on 1 small 'toolbox' (aka Plano tacklebox) and my old Ofna buggy carrier I got with my Jammin buggy to carry the truck, transmitter, spare tires, etc.

I'll prob keep the spare toolbox (aka 2nd Plano tacklebox) with less frequent used tools in the car, like the dremel, hot glue gun, etc so I have it with, just not have to drag it inside. I like to carry everything I need in 1 trip...

cars (4-6 depending on where we are going)

and if we are going to a outdoor track with no power add;

2 5 gallon gas cans.

and if we are going to an overnighter add;

cooler full of drinks and lunch meat
1 gallon bottled water.

coffee maker

Keep in mind this list is for 2 people(myself and 12yr. old son) and usually our Ford escape is STUFFED FULL to the ceiling, and the closest local track to us is like 1.5 hours away.For the over nighter series races I usually start packing boxes the week before just to make SURE everything we need is there.

I got a full size, and a little rechargeable 2 speed 4.8v Nascar one I got as a gift. Just saw the same one at Wal-Mart for 20$ Great for the toolbox.

In my first year of racing, I've been to 5 tracks. All had hobby shops associated with them. But some tracks do not - so if your track has a hobby shop, you maybe able to go lighter than just to a field-track setup.

Tools-wise, you need tools to fit all allen-keys you have on the car. You also would want to have the car's manual to let you read about setups and options. If your car has a tuning guide from the manufacturer, that's even better.

You can get by with as little as car, charger, batteries and the transmitter. But you can also fill a truck-bed with stuff too. You may want to go with rechargeable AA NiMH batteries for a Tx - you'd hate to run out of transmitter on practice or race-day. With rechargeables, you can save an entry-fee per month instead of buying throw-aways.

I bring along lots of spares when racing on a dirt-course. A-arms, shock oil, spring sets, extra wire, soldering iron, solder, allen wrenches and maybe a few of the breakable parts. My son and I both broke chassis on our B4 buggies this year on different days - so anything can break.

I suspect you could hunt for bags of spare parts on eBay to build a stockpile of parts. But if the track has a hobby shop - you may be ok there.
