Their track, their rules. Might be a lame decision on their part but it is their decision to make. If they have been involved in running a track for any length of time I'm sure they know that by saying this they run a risk of you not coming back, so there is probably a good reason for it.
Looking at it from the other side, when the same person wins a "lower" class like stock again and again it sends the other racers away in frustration. In national competition stock class is just another class for the pros to run, but in a club race or even local points series, stock is usually considered an entry level class. I'd guess the track owners also own a hobby shop and have had potential new customers scared off by seeing someone beating the field by at least a lap regularly.
If you don't like their rules, you go somewhere else. It also sounds a lot like the whole story isn't being said here.. considering that your first post says you were "told i could not race in a stock buggy points series at a track because of no reason" and then later you posted the reason they gave you.

based on what has been stated as the available classes, I think that they shouldn't be asking you to move up since you are running the stock class unless it has been specified that its a skills based class. The sportsman class implies that its for lower skill / new guys and the other classes imply its just limited to equipment specs for the vehicles.
Since you are too consistent, maybe the guys in stock should actually move down to sportsman? I would think you should be consistent before going from sportsman to stock?
Not much you can do that about it. This would be very interesting if it was about a spec slash class since that is usually all that is available.
Good luck man.

In my opinion as a Race Director... if he is having less than 10 people show up for a type of car (6 to 7 in stock, 2 to 3 in mod) then he needs to re-evaluate his class options. Running with that few of cars doesn't help a race program at all. Run one class for that type of car( say it's stadium truck) and potentially run smaller mains.
For instance, I prefer to run mod. However, almost everyone at our track would rather run Super Stock, so that is the class that is run. If we're in a range of 8-20 cars showing up, we'll normally split the class into 2 heats for qualifying. It seems to work out well this way. Our track is in a small town, so we depend on out of town drivers most weekends. When they don't show it is often better to put on the event in this way as it allows the locals to compete more.

no this isn't a spec class.
they have sportsman
stock
mod.
mod only has 2 ppl, stock has 6 or so.
I drive 2 hours to get to the track so to me i want to race with the most amount of ppl.
they said i couldn't run in a stock class with my stock gear and sent me on my way.

So what if there are two other drivers in the Mod Class. Hey, you have a better chance of winning. And think about it, if they bumped you up to Mod, then they will bump others up as well when needed.
All I am hearing from you is wah, wah, wah. Cry me a river, go look for your nuts and put them back on.

Stock is stock. As long as you are running the correct equipment as specified for stock rules, you should be able to race it. Skill should never come into what class you run except for novice. Hell, I have been as races where I wish they would have "bumped" down the dipshit novice who puts a motor he can't handle in a car and then races mod. You never see that happen.
You have a valid gripe considering you spent your time and money to come to that track. If they were going to do that, they should have it clearly posted at the track that they have their own rules to decide which class you run.
The crybabies are the people who bitch about getting beat. I am sure there are a few of them who went to the race director behind your back to encourage this decision.

Have you gone back since this happened. I agree with some that if they bumped you up, take it as a compliment. I know when I started racing in 1987 If someone told you to move up that was a good thing, But I'm with you stock seems to have more competition. and more competition is more fun than having two or three racers. If the other drivers are complaining that your too fast. they shouldn't they should figure out how to beat you hence the word competition.

wow reading some of the replys this trhead is getting is funny.
Stock and mod classes are not like novice and expert classes. Stock is a class that will bring racing closer and make the better driver shine. wehre mod is a class when you want to try and have the fastest car down the stright.
they have novice classes for the new drivers. I know many people that run both mod and stock buggy.

stock is an excellent to learn in. i stayed in stock for awhile and still raced it even when i bumped up to mod. it was always welcome for us to run both if we chose to where i raced

btw this stock class is 13.5bl lipo, which i had.......
this was not the sportsman class which runs the same.

eck, if its all that trouble and all u'd get is grief, nasty looks, silent treatment, or even the odd hack or 2 to run in stock. boy, i'd run somewhere else. an offroad track that only has 2 mods and 1/2dozen stocks doesnt sound like a great place to race.

Your right there ultegrasti. Now it will only be a 4-5hr trip to race instead of 2 . . . .

The salution is simple... build your own track(closer to your home, to eliminate travel costs), make your own rules(now no one can "bust your balls"), and if that doesnt work just suck it up and stop crying like a little baby. Who care if you gotta race with only 2 or 3 other people. Besides what kind of self respecting track only get a few people for mod 2wd buggy and a few more in stock. The peices dont add up to me. Is this someones backyard track or something...im confused
