Smile Brushless system for 1/10th 4wd, suggestions please!

Hey guys,

I am looking to upgrade my 1/10th 4wd car to brushless!
I want to go with a 10.5 brushless system as it will be used in a 4wd super stock class. Which is 10.5 or 13.5 brushless restriction.

This will be my first brushless experience so i would like to get something reliable with a bit of speed to it but not a huge price tag. The car runs a saddle pack setup and i have some Intellect 4600 NIMH packs for it currently, would these be enough if i went brushless?

All help is much appreciated!

Thanks

Those packs should be fine provided they are not worn out too much.

The 10.5 and 13.5 don't pull too much.....

Go 6.5 or 7.5 and run full out mod! 4wd is made for it!

My local club is mainly nitro based and so are the other clubs around, so they only run the one 4wd electric class which is the superstock. And superstock class restricts motor choice to either 10.5 or 13.5

Although from what i have seen from the brushless combo's the esc generally only takes a 7.5 or 8.5 and up in brushless, so might be worth going a lower combo and just getting an extra 10.5 motor.

Any suggestions on 10.5 combos?

novak SS10.5 pro motor, Venom pro 120amp esc

As long as the car can fit it under the body shell , its tall with the fan, but you could take the fan off im prety sure as the esc is rated down to 2.5 turn motor and if your not running anything lower than a 6.5 the esc wont even get hot

Novaks stock class motors are the fastest when geared correctly

In all my cars I am running tekin RS esc's and novak motors. For 4wd I would go with the Tekin RSpro all the way! The thing is tiny and can run any motor you throw at it. I agree that the novak motors are also the best when it comes to stock and superstock classes

lrp sphere and novak motor i use a 7.5 but you can use a 10.5 or 13.5. your batts are fine but a lipo is more consistant through out a heat pluse they now make them with huge discharge rates so you get more power from your motor. in the future you can look into lipo but you really dont need one

Lrp sphere comp with a novak 10.5 would be dialed.

novak 10.5 has the most power hands down.

the vector is an ok motor, but i know a bunch of people who got rid of it cause it runs really hot. anyway the guy wanted a 10.5 or 13.5 an you really dont need the tc sphere for off road but i guess the bigger fetts would give more punch and for 4wd might not be so bad but i would opt for the regular sphere comp

Looks like the novak motors will be a good direction to head in, thanks for all the suggestions and keep them coming.

I found the xx4 thread and saw some photo's in there where they are running lipo packs and just stick them on the one side and the esc/receiver on the other. So i guess thats the way i will eventually go since my car is a xx4 worlds edition, i thought the saddle pack setup wouldn't let me run a lipo but i never really looked into it as i only got the car a couple weeks ago.

Also i have noticed some esc's come with these programming cards and some don't, do they make a difference and are they really needed?

Lrp pro is AU$280 and the novak 10.5 is AU$180, with the Australian $ to the US $ the way it is atm it wont make it any cheaper buying from overseas. So it will be a rather expensive upgrade. I guess its better to get the good stuff first time around and avoid the problems.

I would also recommend lrp shpere with a novak motor. The Novak motors are very strong.
