I have seen people use 8.4 volt battery in Slash. The xl5 can handle 9.6 volts.

The titan 12t is a brushed motor.

People have ran 3s lipos in stock slashes. Nothing will last long but it works. I say user error.

So how are you driving it that makes it go bad?

Wouldnt recommend even putting a 3s lipo in your truck with the stock speedo and motor. there is a you tube video of one "catching on fire" with the stock speedo and i think it had the stock motor too. It ran like a bat out of hell until the speedo let the smoke out.

off road racing 3 Qs and 1 Main ran frist 2 Qs found out i didn't have the stock pinion so stripped both spurs then got a new pinion from someone then ran the 3rd Q all the way and motor got really hot and i let it cool before my main and plug in my 7c batt was going to run a 6c but decided not too and turned on my Radio then Speed control and hit the trottle motor went then just stop then it wouldn't run after that......pretty much all i can say for right now and one of the fellow racers had the same problem

Well, from I can tell you from the time I worked at my lhs is that I have seen this same issue when people ran a 7c pack in a rustler. What we told them was that essentially you would have to change your gearing to compansate for the extra voltage of the extra cell compared to a 6c pack. Basically you are under geared for the extra voltage and causing the motor to over heat.
