Default mamba max vs sidewinder

Whats the differance, i know the max can handle higher kv, but thats about it. i wanted the sidewinder because of the tuning you can do on the computer, but it seems the max does it too. which has more you can configure, but if the same, whats the difference??

With the MM you can run the 5700 motor on 3s lipo.

the MM can handle higher amps.

There's already a thread on this somewhere but rather than looking for it and referencing it, I'll just throw out what I remember from it.

If you're never planning on running anything hotter than a 5700 motor, which there really isn't any reason too (even in 4wd), then you'll be fine with the MM. They both can be updated with your laptop using the same software and when new firmware comes out, they can both be upgraded. The Mamba Max currently has a USB port so you don't have to use the castle link where the sidewinder requires the castle link to make changes. Also, MM can handle heat a little better so it is best suited for 4wd. But for truck or 2-wheel, there is absolutely no reason to spend the extra money for the Mamba Max.

It all depends on what you plan on doing. I got a MM years ago and now I am finally using it. It is a whole new world. When I am at the track and there is something about the car I dont like, I fix it when I get home. The sidewinder is a ton cheaper though.

Thnx for the input. im going to run a 5700 with it, and i want my gearing to have alot, and i mean alot, of low-mid torque. dont need to go faster than about 45. but with a gearing like that, will the sidewinder handle it, im only going to run 8.4v 5000 mah 7 cells until i get my lipo charger, than ill be running 2s 5000mah lipos. also im running it on my traxxas slash (might help). but ya my friend just dropped $200 for his vxl system (i was going to get until i saw the sidewinder) and he ran for a week and motor blew. did this happen because of gearing?? ive blown 3 stock titan 12 turns, each had 3-5 runs (only with 4200 and 5000 7 cells) .and i really dont want to have to replace a brand new motor, again, especially if it costs 4 times as much. thnx for help
