What's needed to convert xxxt rtr to tcr?
 

I am buying a xxx t rtr with most everything upgraded to graphite and I cannot find anyone that can tell me definitively what I need to upgrade it to a xxx tcr. If anyone can tell me what exactly interchanges, I would greatly appreciate it.

Download the free parts/price lists, xxxt and xxxt cr
Compare xxxt to the cr and mark all that is different on the cr.
This will give you exactly what is different and you will have the part numbers. Eliminate the guess work.

Whats your plans for the car racing or just bashing a bit?
I just ask cause I think the XXXT set up holds up better to bashing around than the cr set up . There is also a XXXT_CR thread in this section
and believe it is all ready been discussed. The hubs alone will run you $40
dollars , then you will need new dogbones, all the workings for the hubs (bearings, Qc connections). Also the Standard XXXT rim will not cross over to the rear of the XXXT_CR hubs so may need new rims. Keep that in mind.
The XXXt with graphite components is a fine car, and you can still stomp
plenty of folks.

you're better off dropping the dough on the CR truck cause by the time you spend all the money to convert it to the CR you can spend like an extra $50 to get the CR.

Well, I'm going to be racing this winter, and I have driven some of my friends xxx tcr's and I really like the way they handle (very easy to drive and very forgiving). I have looked through most of the xxx tcr thread here and have found conflicting information and was looking for someone who may have done the conversion themselves. Some people have said that the tcr uses the same transmission (gen 1) as the rtr. I am just trying to find out if it is realistic to do it or if I should just buy a new tcr. I realize that the tcr uses the quick change hubs but I don't think I have to go that way. I know the front spindles themselves are the same, just the axle stubs are different lengths (I have both a xxxnt and AD2).

I just did like the one guy said and downloaded the parts listing for both trucks and it looks like all I absolutely need is the chassis and battery hold down. I haven't spent a lot of time studying it, but it appears that the transmissions are the same. I will post up more once I have studied things further. Thanks for the help.

A few of us here (central Missouri) have built an economy version of the TCR...

Long chassis and long battery bar..
MF2 arms (front and rear) -- to get VLA tuning options
You need the MF2 front hubs and CR buggy rear hubs to complete the VLA package...

Really works well, and is a simple conversion... (Clearly NOT a total recreation of the TCR, but it captures all the geometry and tuning options of the chassis...)

Thanks tfrahm, that was exactly what I was looking for, a economical conversion.* I'm mainly just looking for the handling characteristics of the tcr.* I'm going to start with that setup.* I have an AD2 gas truck that I don't race anymore and if I get real ambitious I think I might try to convert it to electric.* Make myself a mid-engine electric truck like the xfactory stuff.* Thanks for all the help.

This is what i did

1. took my MF1 truck

2.bought the TCR chassis/battery strap

3.had new MF2 front/rear arms already
and cr buggy rear hubz,frnt MF2 spindle
carriers

4.transfered everything to New XXX-Tcr
chassis

5.added the Losi adapters for AD2 wheels
in the REAR/and put lunsford ad2 front axles
up front to keep the wheel base even!

6.had spare complete cr buggy tranny laying
around so rebuild it and threw it on!:nod:
