Default brushless off road

Ive got the sphere lrp with the 4 star brushless in my t4. I run the truck on the local dirt oval track. I was thinking about running a bigger pinion to calm it down to run off road. If i do that will it hurt the system at all? Im just looking to keep cost down with out buying another motor.

Suggest a 18P/81S

then use Arc or Expo on radio to smooth ...
Any driver can copy a great set up, a Champion however will steal it .
