Default traxxas stampede

would it be worth spending about $150 to upgrade to a brushless motor/esc combo or just get a nitro? I have an opportunity to buy a brand new nitro Revo 3.3 with extras for $300

Yeah you could buy a 3.3 for 300.00. But what does it come with? Does it have a RX pack? How old is the motor? Fuels not cheep also, and your going to need it as long as it stays a Nitro. What ever way you go your going to spend money to do it. Brushless is going to give you Nitro proformance. (with good batteries!!!!) without the nitro maint. So its going to end up being 4wd to Rwd, and what type of terrain your going to use them on.

Hope I helped LOL

well the revo was only a few weeks old, came with batteries, charger, gas, starter and radio. it was barely used only 4 tanks of gas worth....but i lost my chance to buy it since someone else beat me to it. Guess i will just go brushless...im thinking about getting the Novak GTB/Velociti in either 5.5 or 6.5. Is there something else you would recommend instead? I dont race or plan on racing, but i want something thats gonna make it fast n mean. I've had my stampede for 11yrs now and im still using the stock 20t motor. Terrian is mostly grass and street. Thanks for the input

dude. if you put in a novak GTB and 6.5 youll piss your pants for sure.
gear it light though for running around in the grass.

and consider FM or spektrum for your transmitter. I heard BL output makes an electrical noise that doesnt get along with some AM receivers.( i could be in error, here) just a thought.but seriously, brushless stampede would be awesome.

I run a MM 5700. Never have had a problem out of it in the last 2 years. 6 cell matched NIMH more than enough speed for me. Don't know much about any other systems, but have heard good and bad about all systems. I belave you can not go wrong with any of the top brand stuff, and good Batteries.

ok, maybe this is a newb question but....when you say use FM, does that mean to switch to FM crystals or FM receiver with FM crystals?

Most stock RTR have AM systems. FM systems tend to be better, and 2.4ghz better than both. So yes you would have to upgrade the whole system, because FM crystal wont work with an AM system and vise-ah ver-sah.

Yes the system is the TX and RX. The two of them make up a system.
