Default 540, 550, 720 motor sizes?

Do you know the dimensions of these motor sizes or if there is an official chart of motor sizes?

For example, how do motor manufacturers know how to designate their motor sizes?

540, 550, 720

Those numbers used to roughly indicate the length of the can. a 540 was about 5.4 cm long.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for but Tekin for instance has motors labeled as 358 or 448 and so forth.

358= 5800KV

448= 4800KV

Hope that helps any.

Those numbers refer to the motor diameter.
540 has a diameter of 36mm.
380 has a diameter ~28mm.
280 has a diameter of 24mm.
The S, L or XL after the numbers refers to the motor length.

With some searching you may be able to find a chart online that lists other motor sizes.

Anything with bushings and non-serviceable brushes is pretty much junk in this day and age. Heck, anything with brushes is pretty much junk. IMHO.

I own a Slash, and will be the first to say the Titan motor is junk. That was the first thing to fail on my truck.

And yet we've got 30+ people racing at out club since the truck came out and maybe 3 or 4 motors have died in 9 months.

People sometimes fail to realize that one data point doesn't make a trend. That one data point (yours) doesn't mean all the Titan 12T motors are junk, or for that matter, even that the one you destroyed was junk. People come on these forums to complain. The 26 guys at my track that haven't had any problems overwhelm the 3 or 4 that did, but they think it is normal for the motors to last and last so they don't bother posting about them.

It really depends more on how you treat them than anything else. Some guys just destroy stuff no matter what you give them because of the way they treat their equipment.

30 people over 9 months, and 3-4 motors went bad....BBBBSSSS! if they were racing they were using that motor 3-6 times and swpping before that junker went BAD!!

in fact i bet they were running a stock class at your club...stating that they can only run the junk titan to be elgible for that class.

I wouldn't say closed end bell motors are junk. They just arent up to par with brushless motors. I am using a midnight pumpkin with a 25+ years silver can motor and it's pretty good. Ive had good experience with the Titan motors as well. Some people get a bad motor and some just kill them. I'm sure there are a few bad brushless motors once in a while too
