Trying to set up a novice class, help on this please ...
Hi guys,
A friend and track owner is starting to define a "start" class, novice focussed.
He already defined so far :
- Platform : HPI e-firestorm (already made a deal with HPI distributor so its closed on that brand and model)
- Batteries : just NiMH allowed, 4.200mah limit.
- Motor : 19T - Brushed
- Tyres : free
- Optionals : None as a start, then will define a list of changes allowed to be made on the car.
Now, his problem is "which 19T to choose", must be brushed, fast, rebuildable, reliable and not expensive (ideally 3 choices to every driver get what ever he wants that runs very similar on the track, or just one for everybody.
So, can you help me on the task of definining wich 19T to look for ? ... so far i have been reading about these :
1.- http://www.venom-group.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=VEN-1314
2.- http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXLRE0&P=ML
3.- http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXRTY2&P=ML
4.- http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXJAK4&P=ML
5.- http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXMDY7&P=ML
The idea its to define 1 to 3 motors to use, but if the differences of each one are too much, just 1 motor as "spec" one. And must be a motor that does not be out of stock or discontinued at least in one year lol !.
thanks a lot guys, im a nitro offroad guy and already ordered a e-firestrom to support the class and race, but i dont have any idea of electrics

Stay away from the Venom motors for sure . IMO the komodo dragon is the best on your list . Also take a look at this http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXRBE9&P=ML . It`s a little more then the others but is a much better motor. Doesn`t burn through brushes compared to most and performs very well .

Typically a novice or sportsman class is a run what ya brung class. The only division is usually electric and gas. Also typically must be a 2wd vehicle in the electric class.
With novice drivers they are typically all very equal regardless of what vehicles they are driving.
What you are suggesting is controlled or spec racing. This type of racing can be good for keeping costs down but even then typically a chassis is not speced because every body has preferences of one brand or another for whatever reason.

i would reccomend the trinity chamelon 2 that is a awesome motor i just loved it until BRUSHLESS another suggestion would be for the novice calls just use 27t brushed or a 13.5t brushless that is how it is at our track

Definitely the Trinity Komodo motors, they are priced good and are easy to find. I personally run the Reedy 19T spec motors but I think they are discontinued now. But I run Trinity based 27T stocks and have had nothing but good luck wth them. Be sure to stay away from the Venom motors.

Thanks a lot for your help guys, and yes, there was a mistake on the concept, its a spec class, the thing is that my friend is a rc importer and track owner, and since couple month he sold A LOT of e-firestorms to people who is starting on the hobby and even to hardcore racers asking for a easy to go way to kill the stress at lunch time lol ! ...
So, every single guy has changed the stock speed and/or motor for 4.5's, 10.5's, 19t's, 27t's, 14t's, etc etc etc ... and as they asked for the track owner to organize a class for them, he is defining some base parameters so all people can race very vey leveled in performance just depending on setup and driver hands, and at low cost.
Any other opinion, more than welcome !!
