The pack will be rated at 4900/22C and will come with 10 gauge wire to keep the resistance as low as possible. The dimensions are H 25mm x L 67mm x 45mm.
The pack I tested at 35 amps has 515 seconds , 7.34 average voltage and 7.2 IR. I think this is pretty good especially when you consider the length of the jumper wire.

I've been lucky enough to get to test the sample saddle lipo from SMC. I think everyone is going to be very happy with the fit. It fits with about 4mm clearence from the topdeck of my D4. Has plenty of room front to back on the battery mount post. The jumper is hardwired into the case which I really like.

$20 is worth the extra 5c when people are using heat pads from your local pharmacy to raise the temp for extra punch.
and when we look at checkpoint and orion packs of similar mah; orion 4800 stick for $145 and checkpoints 5400 is $130; which would be raised about $10 just for a hardcased saddle pack, it seems very far.
still, another point is the smc pack will be thinner then the trakpower 4800 leaving extra clearance, so you can still use your thumb-screws
i still like my 4-40 screw and blue aluminum countersunk washer.

The trakpowers drop in like a dream in the b44 when you use the diggity designs lipo plates. I am gonna agree with losi driver on this one, i dont think the extra 5C will make much of a difference but i am curious to see what you guys think when you try them. I ran a 30 C in a T4 and i did not see that much of a difference between that and a 25C. So don't get sold on the "C" rating. i would def use 20C or higher for racing but i am yet to see a significant difference to where this would really help me in a race. The reason i may not win a race is because of my driving and never because i ran a 20C vs running a 25C. just my two cents.

How much higher quality is the SMC pack going to be than a maxamps battery? 25c is great but it's a 4900mah battery, so it isn't too much different than a 6000mah maxamps right? If so I think I'd rather pay less for a maxamps for similar performance and have the extra 1.1 amp hour of capacity. I personally haven't had any issues with my 5500 maxamps, of course a hard case sounds like it'd be nicer but if there isn't anything 'wrong' with the maxamps cells I don't see a reason to switch. I'd love to have what's 'best' or 'better' and am completely open to suggestion but so far I just don't see enough solid evidence that this SMC pack is all that much better, or at least for the price tag it's being sold at. For the same price I'd not hesitate at all to try it over another 5500mah or maybe even a 6000mah maxamps battery. I'm actually pretty close to trying the 4800 trak power to see how that performs in comparison to my 5500 maxamps since the price is pretty reasonable and they have a good rep. But now with this SMC pack being released I may end up holding out for it instead if I can be convinced to do so.

If you don't plan to race then the MaxAmps soft lipo battery could be OK. However for how expensive lipo batteries are, I think it'd be a good idea to maybe invest into some lipo batteries that come in a hard case and are permitted at races. That way if you end up at a track in the furure that enforces the hard case lipo rule you will be good to go if you get the SMC product.
