Who makes a good wheel balancer for 10th scale trucks and buggies?

I use this one built by Dubro. I can balance any 1/10 or 1/8 buggy and truck / truggy tires with it.

Dumb question but what are the advantages of a tire balancer?

benefits include:

less wear on bearings
more traction at mid-high speeds as the tire is in constant contact with the ground and not vibrating

2-stroke engines were run unballanced in the past; just slapped on giant bearings to handle the stress and thought the lower weight would be better. Once someone started balancing the engines there were marked increases in the power of 2-strokes. Same thing applies here; although larger scales benefit more.

Ya.. balancing works.. but is it really worth the effort? Are the tracks you race at really all that smooth to begin with? How long do your tires last? A few tracks out here its almost a 1 race day to a set of tires.. lol..

Then again... I have gotten a bit lazy in my old age.. lol

I don't have a tire that is not balanced. It's the way to go.
Oh! another benifit is even tire ware. If you look at youre tires now, I bet you have bald spots wile the other side of the tire has plenty of tread. It will fix that problem.

From what I recall from my youth, I started out using tires and wheels that were unbalanced. Then a friend of mine that raced with me, had a tire balancer (that same one that is linked above, the dubro) and after the wheels were balanced, the car seemed to be night and day while accelerating.

But as JeromeK99 stated, I'm getting lazy at my old age. I used to rebuild my shocks and tranny after the qualifiers, right before the main. Nowadays, I'm lucky if I can squeeze some time to go bashing! :lol:

I have a Top Flite magnetic balancer and it will balance up to 1/10th truck wheels. Kind of cool how the modeling clay just sticks to the rim and never comne off.:p

I use the Top Flight Magnetic Balancer as well. I don't think there's a better option out there. It's like $19 at Tower Hobbies.

I had a Top Flight.

Now I prefer a Matt Francis balancer (no longer made) for all 1/10th wheels and 1/8th buggy wheels and the Dubro for everything bigger.

The nice thing about the MF balancer is that I can use a piece of 3/16 drill rod for most 1/10th rear and many front rims and not deal with those little push-on cones that can slip and give bad readings. I use the same drill rod inside a hub adapter for the 1/8th buggy tires.
