honestly found the 4600 more friendly to my b4 than the 5700 last yr.

yes thankyou shurcool that chart helped allot , when they say you must use largest spur possible when using certain battery's , what spur gear would i use for the b4 ? whats the largest one they make ?

Start with a 21t pinion. You don't need a different spur. From my calculations that should be near the middle of the gearing range for that motor in that car. You can go up or down a tooth from there.

What battery did you have in mind? 6 cell, 2s or 3s Lipo? It doesn't make sense not to mention that, as it makes a huge difference.

I have been running the sidewinder/5700 combo this season. I was using the stock gearing from my RTR setup originally. With the scoop cutout of the stock body I had about 140* on the speed control and about 116* on the motor consistently. I recently switched bodies to the Jconcepts illusion. I've been tuning the car and getting better at racing(less crashing=less cooling time) and I now get really high temperatures. 165-185 on my esc and 145 on motor. I cut some holes in the body and it seems to be controlling the temperature. I am going to pick up new pinions tonight, and test this weekend. The car is as fast as anyone else at my track when I'm hooked up. I don't know a mph, but to me it's fast. The 5700 is supposedly equivalent to a 9T motor. Hope this helps.

what kind of batt's are you using (lipo?) . Also how hot is too hot for this motor? i was reading castle's website and they say with the highest gearing (spur), 12t-19T pinion, and a 2s or 3s lipo your car will go over 60 mph. i dont think people racing at the track are going this fast although i could be wrong.

I run NiMh duratrax 4200. The car really rips with those in. If I am hooked up I would assume 30mph. When I race I usually don't have it pinned even down the straightaway. Pinning it just results in the front end lifting. I should probably add some weight to the front, but have not gotten there yet. According to castle you don't want to see temps over 200 degrees. Also keep in mind I have the sidewinder ESC. supposedly 2/3 of the mamba max power. The system has been awesome so far though. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
