Default '08 roar off road electric nats.

hey all: Just woundering why we haven't had muck buzz for this race so far? Also how long do you think it will be before this race becomes an all brushless event? Thanks for the info

The race is a little odd and I will tell you why.

At the Shootout we ran Nats rules meaning 17.5 BL in Stock and 27T, but in Super Stock they ran 10.5 BL and 19T. Well with my 19T I wasnt able to clear the triple, once I put my 10.5 in I was clearing it with ease.

It was odd that for stock they made brushed the seemingly faster motor (unless you figured out how to gear a 17.5 to the moon, and with current spurs its pretty tricky) and in SuperStock the 10.5 was faster. Sure there were some brushed cans out there that were blazing fast, but for the most part the BL motors were faster IMO.

In any case I signed up for my ROAR membership last night, and will be sending in my classes this week. Stock, SS, and I think 4WD SS.

I was all ready to drag my butt there from Toronto, Canada, but my sister in law decided to get married that weekend (funny as it was going to be postponed so I actually started looking into flights etc, then they kept the date...crap).

'bout time Kevin, I was about to adopt her as my second wife ....

Congrats dude, you got a winner there!

My 19T cleared the triple no problem, I just hated doing it. The only 10.5 that was even remotely faster than me was Cha-lee Perez' Holy cow that thing was a fricken rocket! Other than that speedwise, I didnt see much difference......the torque to clear the triple though was better in 10.5 than most 19T's though for sure and again Perez' was just plain ridiculous!

I'll be brushless 10.5 for the Nats though!

I heard that next year ROAR is changing the rules for super stock to limit it to 19t brushed and 13.5 brushless (not allowing 10.5). Anyone else hear this?

Next year super stock is 13.5 only, no brushed, stock stays the same as this year.

Why do most of the larger races dilute the racing fields so much by adding all the extras classes? Why not run stock and mod. Sure keep the old dude truck for fun. But wouldnt you rather make the "e" in mod than the a or b in a spec class with minimal competition. I understand not everyone is ready for mod, so run stock ,more racers in a class is more competition. Nats should be stock and mod ..Right? Wasnt 19t(superstock) added to stock nats just to boost attendance. Now that they are combined drop it.

Yeah, I always thought there were waaaaay to many classes. I liked the old stock and mod only days. There is too much dilution at the races.

Yeah his stuff was FAST. I could get over the triple with my 19t brushed motor with ease, but Perez could probably have jumped his car all the way to the step up if he tried.

atleast with next year its going to be only 17.5 for stock, only 13.5 for super stock (class that will prob push "stock" outta offroad)

it will be tc "stock" 17.5, and offroad "stock" 13.5 lol

i really enjoy the 13.5 in offroad, so much so im prob going to get a 13.5 for my b44 when i get fully back into offroad in "readiness" for 2009 super stock; since i don't feel fully comfortable in full-on mod.

Stock is still open to both 27t and 17.5 next year, the only change is super stock.

Does anyone actually read the rules?
