I wanted to add that the 1/8th 4wd electric class is going to be offered at our JConcepts Clash race event this year. The race is going to take place the 2nd weekend in December. We should have the rcclash.com website updated within the next few weeks with more details.

After talking with Dennis yesterday, it looks like the 15 minute race would be good and now I just need to get RC Pro and all the players together to make this race happen!

I looks like Traxxas is going to sponsor a Slash Truck race there too!

10 min qually, 15 min mains, lower mains 10 min. that is the only way. ive read this whole thread, nobody has mentioned marshaling. im a veteran in nitro off road, onroad, and really, who wants to marshal for 30 minutes. ive done it, it sucks. my 2 cent.

The ones that have never marshalled for 30 minutes, or the ones that enjoy marshalling.

Default Moto Cross Style

Just run Two 15 minute mains, use points and times to decide ties.

Makes it easy on everyone. you run one in the morning before all the other mains, then one in the evening as a "final" close out to the weekend.

You won't even need extra packs cause they can "rest" all day before you run the.

Run 10 minute quals. Dual 15 minute mains. Like Moto Cross. I think Electric 8th scale is a PERFECT opourtunity for racing to go away from Timed racing. What form of popular full scale racing uses time limits? Not many. We need to mimic Moto Cross, Have moto's and first round transfers and all that fun stuff. A ladder system. Later though for this event, just keep it simple.

I think this can be a very popular class for a lot of skill levels.

Charlie, RC Pro did this the first two years if I am not mistaken. They used laps instead of time. I think they determined the number of laps based on approximately 10 minutes for the average expert or so. The one abd biggest draw back to this would be as demonstrated as follows:
Heat 1:
1 = joe super fast, 15 laps in 9 minutes
2 = joe not so fast, 14 laps in 9:01 minutes
3 = joe almost fast, 14 laps 9:15 minutes
4 = Joe slight slower = 14 laps 9:20 minutes

Heat 2:
1 = slower than slow, 15 laps in 10:30 minutes
2 = even slower, 15 laps in 11:00 minutes

Heat two top driver(due to fast guys breaking, not finishing) was able to out qualify the 2,3, and 4 place driver from heat one even though they were clearly faster than he was. This is the disadvantage of that style of racing. It benifits being in a heat with people who not fast. If this happens in multiple heats, then then fastest 14 lapper could be as low as 15 or 20th. Because how can you remove clearly faster drivers just because they were not able to run in a heat with slower drivers gaurenteeing them a chance at making 15 laps?

#1 - last I checked RC racing (or even 1:1 electric racing) has never been close in size or parameters to full-scale racing

#2 - it ain't motocross either

#3 - the first time you have an event in which have a bottom feeder (no offense guys) transfer or advance to the podium via attrition or running in a quali with slugs so they have a free track you'll have: A) a riot on your hands, or B) nobody show up for the next event.
