Default T4 gearing questions

I noticed that you can buy all kinds of different tooth spur gears for the T4, what advantages/disadvantags of running a large spur vs a small spur? I do know that you have to have the same gear ratio but just curious.

A larger spur will cause your motor to ride further back on the chassis but will allow you more precision in changing gear ratios.
