losi drivers, I have a question
 

I have on occasion had a problem with new losi ball cups popping off,(the new grey rigid ones) I mentioned that to a long time losi driver and a new losi sponsored driver and I was told that on the tree that the four cups come on has a number on it.. (it does indeed have a number) the higher the number the tighter the ball cup. the numbers goes from 1 to 4 with 4 being the tightest. anyone ever here of this? the last package I opened up had one tree of 2 an three trees of 3... fact or fiction? thanks in advance...

Have never heard of it before actually. I would see if the 2 is looser than the 3 though.

actually i replaced my titiamun ball studs with stock losi studs and new cups (#'s unknown) same problem, replaced cups then with # 3's and ran a qualifier and a Amain with no problems. befor if I scraped a tube both camber and toe would pop off. This is something I will definitily keep a eye on. I will put the tit. studs back on an look for some #4 an see if they are tighter. u can tell when u try to pop one on with ur fingers. seem like some pop on harder than others....

That is true, although I never seem to pay attention to it.
A trick with the grey ball cups is to make sure they are "free" on the studs. Like they should be able to play back and fourth throughout the suspension travel. They'll pop off if they are bound up.

I think the grey cups are garbage. They aren't that free, yet they pop off easily. I like the white and the older original Losi black ones are good as well.

Jconcepts cups also fit Losi studs-also very good.

I use nothing but the white ones. I have used them on Losi and Associated buggies and trucks and they work great.

There are short neck ball studs and long neck ball studs.
The long neck ball studs are for the upright mounted positions like the top of the front bulkhead where you use washers under the ball studs and steering racks and spindles.
If there is a short neck ball stud there it will cause a bind when the arms move up and down and cause the cup to pop off very easily.
The rear bulkhead has the ball studs mounted sideways and it won't bind cuz the link slides sideways not up and down.
The rear hub carrier of the CR has a top mounted ball stud also, check there for binding too.

I use the CR rear carriers an haven't had a problem there other than having to grind the inside edge off so the shocks can collapse all the way. I want to thank all for their suggestions an opinons good luck to all... Tom

I use the RPM ballcups and have only had them pop off a few times in a year of running the truck. :D
