XL-5 ESC and titan 12T
i got a rustler with the XL-5 ESC and Titan 12 T motor. i was planning on getting a 9.6V battery pack for it. i heard that it would be pushing the motor to the limit and burn up the brushes pretty quickly. wanted to know if anyone used this combo and what the results were. or would you advise going with the 8.4 V pack instead

id stay away from an 8cell, ive never heard of that even mentioned with "real" rc cars. i was playing with a cheap radio shack truck at my house with my friend and its gotta 9.6v nicd, we threw it into dirt jumps and stuff breaking it in half and we did it like 8 milionj times and it still worked!!!!
6/7cell betteries would probably be the better choice in your case.

8.4 would be better over the long run. Though I am not 100% sure, I think the 9.6v may be to much for the stock esc.

E = IR
Its a very true formula... if you re-arrange it, you'll find that current and voltage go hand in hand (if one increases, the other will too).
R = E/I
Basicly, if you increase the voltage, you'll increase current draw, and thus stress the motor and ESC more. If i were to run a higher voltage, i would drive smoothly. punching the throttle will blacken the comm, and wear the motor out faster.
Hope that helps! Cheers!
