As soon as you use a jumper to short power input one and make the HV a single input for the battery, it doesn't matter if you're still plugging in a 4S or not. The internal BEC will not function. It only works when two 2S batteries are plugged in together. I run a TP 5000 4s with my HV ESC and added an external Novak HV BEC. Works great until the new ESC arrives later this year. An external receiver battery also works fine, but I like not having to charge one. Do remember that with either an external BEC or receiver battery, you'll have to pull the red wire from either the esc or receiver end and use two switches to power on the system.

Good advice. I run a 6.5 personally in my 7.5lb race buggy on 4S and it's super quick!

Once the lipo cut-off voltage circuit is turned on, the unit automatically selects the proper voltage cut-off for 2S, 3S or 4S. Are the red/amber leds blinking twice?

I keep having issues with my HV Pro system. First it seemed to be cutting power to my reciever if I was pushing it hard. After talkign to Novak I swapped out to a 6.5 motor and it seemed to be ok, but then it started doing it again. Again on the recommendation of Novak I bought a seperate BEC and swapped it to the single battery input. Now if I give the car full throttle it just barely moves and makes this noise like the motor is stuck. If i keep it around 1/4 throttle it'll cruise around no problem. I've tried different battery packs and still no luck. Any ideas on what is happening? My setup is as follows:
SC8e
Novak Pro 6.5 15/46 gearing
2x 2s 3200mah 30c lipos
Hitec 7955 servo
Spektrum 2.0
When it did run it was pretty quick and even with hard driving nothing got above 150 so I'm guessing it is geared right but who knows???

Turn the lipo cutoff circuit off. But remember that when the car slows, stop immediately and recharge if this works.
