Default Mamba 5700kv motor and 2s lipo -- HOT TEMPS

Hi all,

I just put the 5700kv mamba in my VXL Rustler. I was using the gearing of 20/83. On speed runs down the street, I was getting around 170 degrees. In the back yard, bashing, I was getting around 195 degrees. I stopped because this is too hot.

Are these temperatures normal? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

temps look good to me. try not to go over 200* and you'll be fine. the gearing may be off a little but i don't know what transmission ratio you have. in my t4 i'll use 15-17/ 87 gears.

Bashing will put more of a strain on the motor causing it and the esc to get hotter, that is why there is a difference in temps.

You may want to drop 2 teeth on your pinion, that will give you more torque and less top speed, and gearing the pinion lower will make the temps drop.

Will this also give me more run time/less amp draw?

Thank you!
