Will there be an option to equip the buggy with mechanical brakes?

They'll work fine, but unless you already have one or two of them, you're getting more out of your money by getting two 2S MaxAmps 6000 or 8000 MaH packs.

The Orion 4800 would be a great choice, especially if you have one or two already. Any of the @5000mah hardcase packs would be good. I have a couple Core 5000s that I'm going to run, as well as myMaxamps packs.

For mechanical brakes, a rear brake only setup may be an option. This would be used along with electric "motor" brakes via the esc. It has not been done yet but we will be experimenting with it. Using full mechanical brakes, front and rear... may also work but we have not even tried that yet.

There are some advantages to using mechanical brakes, but the vast majority of conversions are being run with only the electric brakes. Mechanical brakes make the car much more complicated. Personally, I like the electric brakes.

My lap times are just fine without mech brakes, if you know what I mean.

Are there any concerns about the C rating on the Orions when used with the Neu motors? As I understand it, the Orions are rated at 15C, albeit with very high quality Kokam cells.

If you haven't already gotten some packs hardcased style, the Trakpower's with there 25C rating and what I believe are enerland cells would be great options, and they are cheaper than the Orions as well.

Default mechanical brakes

The vehicle should be fine with the electric brakes. Just think of 1/10 scale 4wd electric vehicles, they have no mechanical brakes and they are fast as heck!! Caster is on the right track, cam.

Still waiting on the pictures of the finished car. Will you be working with a magazine for a review?

Good point. Why don't you have www.rctvlive.com have it on. Those two have been talking about an electric 1/8 buggy for a year now. There last show #716?? they even showed an old clip. Definately something I want to see.

Man! It looks quite nice. I like the idea of 2S 5000 packs as I have some now. Drop a NEU 1512/xx and a CC MMM in this thing and look out! I think I will spend the $10 and get on the waiting list.

Fun Fun

We are talking about how some ideas for a magazine review and I love RCTVLive so I hope we can get those guys to have it on the show.

No pics yet per request from the factory. We should be seeing it posted soon.

Exactly!!
btw, the $10 is credit toward the kit... not just to get on the list.

For that pic, what motor is that??

Glad to see it is a sport kit as I was going to ask why the shock towers look so thin and all.

So what is the price range we are looking at right now for this vehicle from Caster.

It appears also that the battery trays still hang off of the chassis a bit in the rear. Is this going to change with say the chassis having a little more meat back there when really for full production?

Has this been tested at all with say a 1509 motor?

I would be curious to see this go with a 6S setup (ala trakpower 3S hardcased lipos on each side) and a nice mamba max ESC.

Can't comment on the motor or pricing yet.

The rear corner of the battery trays do extend beyond the chassis a bit in this version of the car. I don't think it's a bad thing though, and it's still protected well. When we evaluated the production car soon, we will discuss that and a few other details.

There will be an optional design battery strap and some other parts once the Pro kit rolls out.

I hope to have a 1509 tested pretty soon.... but no, it has not been run in this car yet.
