xxxt brushless gearing
 

I just got a new xxxt brushless rtr. I was doing some reading and someone suggested that the gearing that comes on the brushless rtr was not healthly for the truck. It comes geared for the stock brushed motor and it was suggested that that may not work well for the brushless esc.This is my first truck and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for a different gearing setup. Also what is the name of the battery connector the truck comes with, and are deans plugs better?

which rtr did u get? and the plug name is Tamiya. and you bet ur know what that deans are better!!!!:nod:

deans connectors dont wear out and have lower resistance , its not a matter of if you need to change them , just when , ray

the gearing on that truck is not to bad, but i would drop down 1 to 2 teeth on the pinion, it comes with a 20 tooth if i remember right. i had this truck and that is what i did. hope this helps.:tire:

deans plugs have zero resistance and the tamiya plugs have a ton of resistance and the fact that they wear out very quickly. if ur going to be bashing they are great, no mods to the battery or esc.

Mine came with a 20pinion and a 88spur gear and i run either a 19 or 18 pinion depending on the track, and Deans connectors are a must the Tamiya connectors are just junk.

yep those tamiya connector do suck go with the deans they are the best and they look nice not big and bulky and they arnt a pain to connect

Can you explain just a little more? What type of track would you run an 18, and what type would you run a 19?

The track i drive is a outdoor track kinda technical and usually dry hard pack with light dust on top so i find that a 18 or 19 helps get out of the technical corners of the track better than the 20 tooth, this track is a 1/8 scale track so the jumps are a little closer to the turns it helps to get a little more drive.

The only correct way to figure this out, is get a small tempature gague. Find out what your motor and esc temps are from the manafactures website, and gear down or up untill you get the desired tempature.

If you dont have a temp gun run it for about 5 minutes and touch it. If its blazing hot to where you cant hold on to it for more than 3 to 4 seconds gear it down (18t, 17t). If you can hold it for 10 seconds you can gear it higher. (18t, 19t)

This should get you in the ball park.
