e-revo questions

I already stripped my revo down to the required parts. I ored a mount for a electroct motor for the revo, and i have the motor and battery and everything. setup:

Mamba Max 4600 Kv
2 x 2cell3000mah (not sure if i can use both, but at least 1)

how fast will this go? and can i use both of my lipos?
All the vids i see on e-revos say they have feigo motors, which i found out the feigao 8xl is only 2250kv. so mine should be wayy faster. Heres the mount i got. http://rc-monster.com/proddetail.php?prod=RCMrevomount

With that setup, you're going to overheat the motor. The reason why people use large 550+ size motors and low kV is because these trucks and buggies are quite a bit heavier and needs low end power to get them going. You're going to have to gear that Mamba way down, and even at that point, I'm not even sure if the motor will move the truck at a decent pace without taking a dirt nap.

hum... yeah i forgot about weight. I use 2cell lipo and that motor in my on-road car and it is WAY WAY WAY overpowered.

for a budget motor look at the feigao XL motors, or if you want the best, a nei 1515... would just scream

would a:
mamba max 4600kv supplied with 4 lipo cells make the revo fly?

I have done alot of reserch and, you can run 4cell lipos on the 4600kv mamba motor. Only thing is u have to remove the red wire that goes from the esc to the rx. And supply your own battery for the rx. This came from a castle creations rep.

it won't make your revo fly, but it will make your motor FRY

don't try that unless you want to have your 4600 motor run it's last run

buy a motor sized appropriately for the vehicle

XL can, or 1515 neu

bob3104558 03-11-2008 03:48 PM

y would it fry? CAUSE IT WONT!! ive already talked to mamba and done a shit load of reserch. Ill get it running and show u the vid.

amain 03-11-2008 03:58 PM

he is right you will fry the motor. its like putting a micro motor in a 1/10 sedean and trying to compnsate by throwing a shitload of power on the motor. it will fry

Here is BYT testing the mamba max 4600, 5700, and 7700. They are running theirs on a large buggy, with 3cell. So my motor on my revo running 3cell will prob propell my revo to 40mph at least. Why yould i wanna buy a overpriced offbrand pos like u guys are sudjesting, instead of the #1 brand castle creations motor. Which has been tested prob over a million times and has been confirmed by castle creations techs to be stable at 4cell?!?!?

Where is this 'large buggy' you mentioned? All I see is a RC10B4 in that link, nowhere near the size and weight of a Revo.

If you consider companies such as Neu, Lehner, Hacker to be 'off-brand pos', you clearly haven't done sufficient research. We're trying to help you out, but evidently you're too stubborn or close-minded. Have fun burning it up.

Let me drop you one last hint, straight from Castle Creation's very own website:

... ok where can i get a budget motor that will work for the revo? I already have the mamba max esc. And which motor?

Feigao 540XL - 8XL Brushless Motor? only $70

artie's liver 03-11-2008 04:58 PM

sounds like you're finally starting to listen to reason

the 8XL has worked with good results for many

I use the 9xl, a bit slower but a bit less heat

be sure to do " a shitload" of research on using a ubec on the MM esc so that you don't cook that on 4s
