How is this setup? Someone recommend a 1515 1y/f for my truggy. But I was thinking 1515 1.5d.

runs very good, a lil tamer then a 1.5d...
but i love it runs nice an cool...
if anything ive been thinking of getting a neu 1512 motor this summer, if it has just a tad less torque it would feel more like a nitro truggy , an be better for racing, as my 1515 1y, has tons of torque u just dont need at the track, thankfully i can program my mamba max to take out alot of the torque....

Oh wow, so the 1.5d maybe WAY too much for track racing. I am looking for an electric motor with just a tab bit more top end then the nitro counterparts, plus enough low end torque to clear those doubles and triples at the last minute.

I don't find it to be too much at all. Just need a little more finger control

Here is mine

1. <Car> Losi 8ight T
2. <Motor> Neu 1512/1.5d/f geared 11/46
3. <Speed controller> Castle Creations Mamba Max, CC ebec @ 7V, novak capacitor
4. <Lipo Battery> MaxAmps 4s 6000, Flightpower 4s
5. <Charger> Multiplex
6. <Conversion Kit> www.rcproductdesigns.com Mount
7. <Cooling Fan> one 12V 40mm
8. <Likes of your setup> offset center diff of the 8ight with battery pushed in tight, Everything else is on the other side gives even weight left to right
Custom/homemade battery holder... Tower battery cups/2" velcro strap mounted to a tray and adjusts front to back (4 screws) for tuning
Cente diff with 50K.. keeps the front end down and not pie pans While still pushing the rears....but runs about 150 degrees.. really helps drive ability, for me
Nomadio React telemetry! battery voltage and temperatures.. real time, min. and max.
9. <Dislikes of your setup>I would like to lose a pound or 2 from the truggy not really.. and may eventually want more motor and volts
10. <Description on your motor performance>looks same or better than the fastest nitro at the track in testing ..but not with my driving
11. <Battery Life> 28 to 33 min still in testing

Google Neu Motors <-link... Last I heard Neu motors had taken back over the distribution, no longer Flymda ,and was taking orders themselves.
The second link on that page is a list of dealers ..Don't know if it is still good?
There are half a dozen dealers in the first few pages with RC-Monster.com at the top of page 3.

Mamba Max They don't list a part #... Yes, the 1/10 scale power system ... great and a great deal

I notice people use the 1512 1.5d for buggies. Do you feel it is not enough for your truggy, as you mentioned you want more motor and volts?

9. motor runs hot, but will change when MMM comes out
How does the MM stand up to 5S? Do you have thermal issues with it? Did you do anything special to get it to run properly?

it runs cooler then when I had a 4s and 9xl in the truck. I didn't do anything special to the esc, just wired it up and set up a ubec. However from what I have seen not all the the MM will run 5s. I know a few others on rcmonster run 5s but since it is way out of spec I can't recommend it. I also believe the 12xl helps since it doesn't pull nearly the amps that most of the motors people on here are using.

I m glad to see that your running the novak set up. I have been debating buying the RC8, the novak conversion kit (because its simple) and the Novak HV esc + motor.

Currently I have a b44 and many times the track gets a little to rough at practices and during races with all of the 1/8th's. I am happy with the GTB set up's that I currnetly have. Any way....

I have been debating, with the converson, getting the 4.5 motor versus the 6.5 motor. The 6.5 that I have in the b44 is enough for my driving ability. I can not properly control the 5.5 but again that is 10th scale.

Is the 4.5 that your running (scale wise) equal to the 4.5 that comes with the GTB for the 1/10th. If so I would buy the 6.5. But if the 6.5 for the 1/8th is less than the 6.5 for the 1/10th (because of overall weight of the larger buggy) I would consider the 4.5

If that makes sence to you.

I just dont want to buy a motor that is underpowered and regret it, and I dont need an overkill motor because I am a decent driver, but not a great one.

If I were to compare it to 10th scale in my b44 I perfer switching between the 6.5 and 7.5 depending on the track.

Thanks - OG

I actually went to my lhs to buy the 6.5 but the 4.5 is all they had in stock so I picked it up because I wanted to get the truck going.I really believe the 6.5 is all you need if you are planning on racing.I turned the timing all the way down and set starting power on low and the hellfire will still flip on its roof if I punch it.Also,I have heard the 6.5 runs a little cooler which will help at the track.
I am not sure scale wise if the 4.5/6.5 are equal to the 10th scale motors but judging by how this 4.5 performs I would say they are pretty equal.
I talked to a few people about this motor before I bought it and recieved some mixed reviews about how the Novaks run hotter, but after 15 mins of running the motor was only at 80 degees and the esc at 145 with 12/52 gearing.Overall I am very happy with it and plan on taking it to our local track soon. Thanks
