Need Help with Trakpower Balancer
I bought two Orion 3600's two months ago and thought I'd finally use my Trakpower balancer with my ICE charger for the first time. Things aren't going well:
- The charger keeps saying that no battery is connected to the output so I can't use balance charging mode. WTF?
-I checked both of my packs with a voltmeter. One is balanced and the other is .30 volts out of balance. I hooked the balanced pack up to the balancer and it did just what the instructions said a balanced pack would do during automatic balancing mode. The pack that's out of balance seems to be in automatic balancing mode right now, but I'm not sure. The balancer counted through the number of cells and now seems to be balancing cell 1.
If anyone could let me know why the balancer isn't working with my ICE and how long automatic balancing usually lasts when a pack is .30 volts out of balance, I would appreciate it.

It should work no problem as I have used a Hyperion Charger the same way. Try to make sure the balncer and battery are "linked" first thing push the start to charge button.

You can always charge the cells individually and balance them that way.

hold down the link button until it lights up, then it should work fine

Hold down the button until the two arrows light up then your in link mode.

I'll echo what the two guys above me stated. You have to hold down the link button for several seconds until the arrows light up. Once that happens, you're good to go for balance charging.

You also need to plug the positive into the positive cable on the balancing plug and the Negative to the negavite on the balancing plug. I am charging my lipo's right now with the same set-up.
In the instructions the pic show it like this:
You actually need to have it all plugged in like this:
And also what the other guys said about holding the button till the link arrow lights up.

The picture in the instructions sure is misleading.

Thanks for the pictures Michael #81. My problem was that I didn't plug the positive into the positive cable on the balancing plug and the negative to the negative on the balancing plug.

When I first got my balancer I was scratching my head for a while until I figured it out.

yeah the instructions for the balancer show a picture that is incorrect, michael posted a picture that is correct. if done this way, you should have no problems with open connection.
