Default 3PK

so, at the very last minute....I wanted to get the new KO with a passion but I snagged a deal on a 3PK and couldn't pass it up. I figured out how to adjust the wheel tension...but the trigger is stiff!!!!!!!! anyone know how to calm it down?

Hmmm...I"ve had my 3PK apart for cleaning and painting a couple times but I've never seen a trigger adjustment. Maybe I've just missed it though. I thought it was non-adjustable.

There is no adjustment for throttle tension on the 3PK.

I think I figured out how to do it...I called up one of my racer buddies that has done it before. I'll take the radio apart this weekend and post pictures of the results.

From what he's told me, The throttle tension screw very much exists but it's not adjustable from the outside of the radio, you have to take the whole thing apart to get to it. fillet the radio open, remove the back screen and the throttle box is back there...take it out and you'll see the spring and adjustment screws.

I'll see what I can do....it would be hella cool if it worked out! I like this radio a lot, just the trigger is too stiff for my taste.

I have been thinking about throttle tension adjustment as well. I don't know the actual part number, but if you go to www.mcmastercarr.com you can find a spring that exactly matches the stock 3pk throttle spring--I don't know if the tension is different but it might be worth a try. I also thought of pulling apart the spring (it operates in tension) to lessen the stiff throttle. Its the one thing that bothers me about the 3pk--after feeling an M11 with its throttle adjusted very soft--felt very nice.

dont kid yourself...there's a lot of screws and you have to take your time getting the screen off the back of the radio....but it's well worth it! took me 15 mintues.

For a more fished look put some heat shrink or grip tape over the double sided tape you've used to build up the throttle trigger. It will also make your mod more durable.

+1 man! I just need to hit the hobby shop and get some tubing, but I was actually wondering how long that setup would last before it came un-done....Black heat shrink tubing would look very factory.

There ya go everyone....throttle spring adjustment revealed.

Hey Chris,
I am about to pull apart my 3pks to do this mod--I am sure I will find the screw on my unit, but in your pic its not clear where the actual screw or knob is that increases/decreases tension on the throttle. Am I just missing it?

In the 3rd picture...you'll see the trigger spring.

Follow that spring from the top of the spring (near top of picture)...to the bottom of the spring (near bottom of picture).

You'll see at the bottom of the spring, it's connected to some retaining hook.

That retaining hook is the adjustment block

The black hole looking thing in the center of that block is the adjustment screw

Pull the entire trigger assembly out of the radio...just about 1/2 inches will allow the screw to be accessed with the wrench....turn it out (unthread) and it will soften the trigger.

Does anyone here like the heavier feel. I agree, the 3PK's throttle is definitely on the stiff side, but some others like the Ex-10 and the new DX3R seem too soft. The DX3R in particular, it has almost no feel, especially returning to neutral.
