Default Best 4WD Buggy?

Hey All,

I've been thinking of getting back into offroad after a 15 year break and I have no idea what's available in the 4 wheel drive buggy category. Any thoughts or links would be appreciated.

B44 and lazer zx-5 sp are the hot ones right now, Although i have driven the latest losi 4wd i think it was good but the guy who's car it was is very good and is a losi pro driver for about 10 years.

The HB D4 is a very good buggy. The 'worlds edition' kit is due out in late March and they're dropping the price to around $375. The D4 is much more durable than my B44. They're both great buggys. Handling is very similar, but the D4 is built tougher and the fit and finish of the D4 parts is WAY better than AE. IMO, the D4 is right up there with Xray in fit and finish.

Really you can't go wrong with any of the new 4wd's. Like everyone says, "get whatever one your LHS carrys parts for"... good luck

Mick,

You can't go wrong really with any of the current 4wd cars out there. Of course I will recommend the Lazer SP (although I have owned most of the 4wd cars at some point and really do like the Lazer). Check out what the locals are running as most can help with spares in a pinch. I wouldn't recommend the belt driven cars for our Canadian dirt. I was re-building diffs almost after every round when I had a Yokomo.

Where are the tracks out there?

Haven't found any posts by you in the BX thread...good, bad, or otherwise. Care to explain why the Kyosho's better?

To the OP, I'd suggest skimming the threads on all the cars you're considering; you'll get a detailed idea as to what problems everyone is having instead of a handful of sometimes biased opinions from whomever should take the time to post an answer in your thread.

Current ones are: Academy SB, Associated B44, J Concepts BJ4, X Factory X5, Tamiya 501X, Yokomo MR4BX, TTech (Xtreme) Predator, HB D4, Kyosho ZX5, Losi XX4 (discontinued, but parts are supposedly still available) and XXX4.

Dekelzman - In all seriousness this question gets asked almost weekly and it see,s to irritate some. It is always best to do a search first to see if there is a thread already started.

Also, no one can answer this question for you. All the current buggies are great and will perform very well. You have to pick the one that best suits you and your situation. The thread below should help you out.
