Ok I can not get the slipper clutch to stop slipping under hard acceleration. I had it set at 2 1/2 from full tight with the 19t money motor and it was perfect. I installed the Novak 6.5R and now it is almost all the way tight but it still slips way too much. I have replaced the slipper twice already. What is a good base setting for that motor in these cars??
Really looking forward to running my J82 conversion, now that I've seen them in action at the nationals. I don't know if a local racing class will develop for them or not, but they're definitely cool. They sure like popping wheelies with the 10.5 brushless motors, though (doubt anyone was running the 19t brushed)!

I would make sure that you scotchbrite the slipper plates when replacing the pads. Setting the slipper according to the AE manual has always worked for me, so Im not sure what the issue could be.

Im glad you liked what you saw, the eventual winner Brent Calvert really showed what the class is all about. He used the same T4 in both classes, winning J82 and finishing 2nd in stock truck.
Yeah, I have been schooled by Brent in stock truck before, when they had to combine stock truck with rookie stock truck at the club races. He's really fast.
Anyway, here's the finished product. Can't wait to get it out for some practice and get it set up/get used to it!

ok, i bloody give up. I need help, I love this buggy. It is durable, it's fast, it's agile.. it's hotter than hell.. literally.
I'm running a 7.4lipo pack through a Mamba Max esc and Castle Creations 6900 motor. Running a 17t pinion (which seems to run REALLY well speed wise)
The thing is getting so hot in the space of 4 minutes it de-solders the bullet connectors on the motor. This has happened twice and I DO NOT want to run this thing again without figuring it out as sending these things out for repair now might take a substantial amount of time.
There are no problems whatsoever with the drivetrain, no binding at all.
My initial thinking is it is to do with the programming of the max and I will be posting this in the mamba max forum as well if possible.
Does anyone run a J82 with a Mamba Max system? What system settings and pinion/spur combos are you running.
Sorry for the long-winded post but I am desperate as i will very shortly have a national comp level track within 1 mile of my home and want to push this thing around something fierce.
Well, I don't know a lot about gearing brushless yet, but what I do know is that you typically have to gear them WAY up compared to brushed equivalents. My understanding is that brushless motors will heat way up if you don't gear them right (even undergearing, unlike brushed), so I bet that's the problem.
I'm going to switch to 17.5 brushless before long, so I'm gonna have to get this all figured out too

Thought I'd cross-post this to applicable threads. J82 fans will be interested to see this - and JConcepts/Andy, feel free to use the video to promote the J82 kit, if you like. We aren't using any of these races for broadcast, it's all for proof of concept and viewer feedback.

Three in a row...just wanted to say I ran my J82 tonight and I pulled my fastest times ever with it. It handles much more nimbly, took some getting used to - and it's a little more sensitive about the takeoff on jumps. Once I got accustomed to the handling, it was awesome. Handed the radio off to another racer who wanted to give it a try and he was impressed too - was wishing he hadn't sold his T4.
I like it a lot!

hi guys,
got a j82 kit, ft t4 and gtb 10.5 on the way.but forgot to order pinion gears.
what gearing would suit a small track 50 ft straight, 80 ft sweeper the rest is fairly tight corners.any suggestions would be appreciated as i've been running 1/8 nitro for 8 years and have no idea about 1/10 electric trucks.thanks for any help in advance.

Mine has been seeing "doorknob duty" (everyone gets a turn) at Pegasus. It's been getting rave reviews. It's very nice to drive.
I'm not sure that we're going to end up with a separate class -- I've been running it with a 17.5 in stock truck -- but I know we're going to have at least a few.
Yeah, same here...it doesn't seem like it's going to be embraced well enough to start a class at most places on the club level...but as long as they keep letting me run it in stock, I'm going to!

Sorry to be a Johnny Late-comer but this thing looks trick! I don't know why I never noticed this mod for the T4... If I would've known this mod existed, this would've been my next purchase after I buy a T4 roller...
This buggy conversion looks real fun! With the larger tires and heavier suspension, it's probably much more stable at rutted up tracks.
Another thumbs up for JConcept for an awesome product... Looking at the J82, it's as if someone took a enlargement ray gun and zapped a B4 with it!

Hopefully you running it will spark the extra bit of interest needed.

How are you fairing against stock trucks?

Well I am quicker with it in J82 form than truck form, so I'd say at least with me at the wheel, it's definitely a step up in performance from a truck.
