I am thinking of standardizing my shock oil brand, possibly doing all mugen oil.

Right now, I have a collection of associated and trinity shock oil, with an odd ball losi thrown in there.

My question is, which oil and why did you go with? What were the determining factors in choosing a shock oil?

I would go with whatever you can get in good supply, and just keep it consistant. Just use one brand so you dont have that variation in their weights. I like the losi oil myself. Its nice having the half weights. The ae has some nice new bottle that fill a shock pretty nicely.

I order online as there is no LHS around, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Right now I am loaded up pretty heavy with the trinity stuff, half weights and all.

I've always tried to stay with the same brand oil as what vehicle I am running. Only using AE oil right now, as the only cars I'm running are a B44 and e-RC8. Any setup's you get from factory or sponsored drivers are going to be based on the assumption that they are using that car makers brand of oil. AE drivers use AE oil, Losi drivers (if you can find one) use Losi oil. If your setup sheet is for an AE car and you use Losi oil, it's not going to handle right. If you are a setup wiz, you can mix and match brands of oil if you can compensate for differences between brands. ie, Losi 42.5WT is close to AE 40WT, etc. If you go with Mugen or Kyosho oils with their different, but more linear scale, you might have to play some guessing games till you figure out what's equivilant to 30, 35, 40WT American oils.

On a side note, I never figured out why AE hasn't come out with half weights, especially after reading about team drivers mixing weights to make their own half weights. A need for the racers, and a way for AE to sell more oil. Yet they still haven't done it. Go figure.

I am using the Losi oil's for one big reaon. Color coded oil's. If you forget what oil you're running, and it's not the half weights, pop the shock open and look at the color of the oil.

I went ahead and purchased a whole range of losi oils.

Will be posting the AE and trinity stuff up for sale.

I prefer the Losi oil because they have been very consistant for me and like have all the weight oils and alot of 1/2 weights just incase going 5wt is too much.

Kyosho Oils are great and true CPS rated. The bottles are a little small though. They come in 50CPS increments which allow fine tuning.

With all that said I use Losi oils. They are easy to find and the 2.5 wt's are great!
