Kyosho Mini Inferno ST also has a sealed gear diff, I read in a mag.

I think there's certainly demand for it in many applications - same as LiPo and Brushless. Somewhere between backyard bashing and serious regional/national racing, there are drivers who don't mind wrenching on cars to a certain extent but hate spending time on things like rebuilding diffs, shocks, motors and cycling batteries, etc.
