Motor for my XXX-4

Motor for my XXX-4
I am about to receive a used Losi XXX-4 G+. I have spare electronics laying around, and was wondering whether a Reedy Quad Mag 19 turn will have enough power for a 1/10 4wd offroad vehicle like this. This is my first 1/10 electric buggy, so I don't know what kind of motor is needed. I am not racing competitively, just mainly bashing around my track and with a few local buddies.

well i run a novak gtb with a 5.5R brushless motor. that little thing cooks. i personally love the speed so i would recommend a faster motor but that is totally up to you. enjoy it, it is a fast little buggy.

I would just run the 19t for awhile. It wont last long and will need to be rebuilt often. It will leave your car underpowered but for just playing it will work. If you decide to upgrade go to your LOCAL HOBBY SHOP an check out what they have to offer. A 6.5 or 5.5 brushless is ideal for 4whl drive.

i have a 8.5 in mine, once it is geared it is fast, nothing like a 5.5 but i am learning how this car drives so alittle slow is ok. my 19t made the car go, spun the tires, ran out of top speed quickly. made it a nice drift car, just not a race car. like the other post says, run the 19t, learn the car, upgrade to a brushless, at least a 8.5.

If you have good batteries, the quad 19 will surprise you. I ran one in my xxx4 for a bit, and it wasn't bad. Had fairly fresh IB's at the time. Nothing like the Novak 6.5r it has now, but it wasn't bad at all.
If you have it, use it. Nothing to lose.

Is the reason for going to brushless because the dirt fouls up the brushed motors? Isn't the motor pretty well protected?

I will be using my Orion Platinum 4800 lipo, so that should provide ample punch. I might just save my money up and get a brushless setup instead of going to a hotter brushed motor.

Brushless and 4wd cars go together. 4wd's load the motor really hard, so the motor gets hot and the comm and brushes wear out fairly quickly. Much quicker than a 2wd car/truck. The dirt sure doesn't do the motor any good.... Brushless solves the problem, and the Novak brushless motors don't have open vents for dirt to enter.
Wear out what you have first..... Then think about the next step.

Which spur and pinion are you running? Ive got a Novak 8.5 i took out of a XXX-T that will be going into my XXX-4 as soon as i figure out the best gear combo. It's not going to be seeing much track time except just for fun. It's mostly a yard car.

I've got a Orion Vortex 5.5 and a LRP Sphere Comp 07 in my XXX4-G+. It's fast as hell.
But I can't seem to get the rear diff right.
